How to remove Droid X2 Bootstrap Recovery? - Motorola Droid X2

How do I completely remove (or disable) the Droid X2 bootstrap recovery app ( MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk )? I searched, but did not find instructions specific to this particular recovery app on the Droid X2. Uninstalling from Applications menu is obviously not enough because the phone still boots to recovery menu if plugged into power.

open system recovery app, select 3rd option charge mode

got it working. thread can be closed.

phone stays on canogyn mod screen forever after flashing glitches kernal..

any idea why? it will stay on that screen forever..
cm7, with glitches kernal...low leak kernal
Sounds like you flashed the wrong kernel for your ROM, or it didn't flash properly. You'll need to flash a new kernel/rom to get back out of it.
Try holding the power and volume up button till the phone powers off, then let it reboot.

Did you wipe cache and dalvik before flashing glitch?

yes i wiped before flashing

locked SGS3

i have andyXrom
and i did put a password
and unfortunately i forgot it
and i don't want to install a new rom
how can i open it ??
btw no matter how many times i put the password wrong i get 30 seconds to put the password again
Only way would be factory reset or just try dirty flashing the rom
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
i have whatsapp massages
the only reason i don't want to factory reset :crying:
Hmm..Maybe this site could help you?

didn't have any luck with any sulotion
factory reset is your only option! your what's app msgs will be restored if you flash a stock rom I think!

Passwords are designed not to be circumvented.
If you work out where the whatsapp database is, you could connect phone in recovery mode and adb pull the database before ressetting the phone

any videos or tutorials on that ?
Probably.
First Google where whatsapp keeps its data...

[Q] Need help with device after recovery flash

I got the Verizon HTC One Max today... Successfully got bootloader unlock, root, and S-OFF (thanks to rumrunner!).
Found CWM Touch/Non-Touch recovery as well as TWRP. Tried flashing both via fastboot and neither would actually load when telling device to boot into recovery. Tried installing TWRP via GooManager, no go. Tried installing CWM via ROM Manager, no go. Recovery not found for either is what I was pretty much running in to.
Decided to try flashing recovery for Verizon HTC One (via ROM Manager), it says it worked, but still would not boot into recovery. Ever since then, though, I cannot get service and device will be on for a minute or two and then reset.
Manually flashed TWRP and CWM and now it seems to boot into recovery (with either), but still no service and still resetting every minute or two.
Cannot find RUU for this device, nor can I find radio to flash or stock recovery.
Help me! I want my phablet back! lol

Where did you "find" cwm and twrp? Different versions from other forums 'sometimes' contain other partitions with them.
Should only use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-max/orig-development
Recoveries are made from a device specific kernel. The One kernel is very similar to the Max but not exact. There is work being done to get usable pieces of a decrypted Verizon Max ruu. Not sure what you can do until available.

I "found" the recoveries from the following locations:
TWRP 2.6.3.0 and HERE
then
ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.4.5
I typically don't go anywhere but XDA Developers...

Yeah, that's kinda what I've come to realize. I guess I'll just have to go without for a while. This is why I have backup phones! Lol

I was wondering if you went elsewhere in xda initially since you ended up going to One forum and flashing that recovery. Could possibly ask someone to pull kernel from Verizon Max and create flashable zip.

Dont go without. You have custom Max recovery installed now and we have the files for someone in here to create you some flashable zips of stock kernel and stock recovery to try. Decrypted ruu pieces are needed when you cant flash with custom recovery.
Just ask in General for someone to create flashable zips.

Read through both threads. Both are having some issues right now and are not perfect but should mostly work.

Now I might be in even more trouble... Whenever I power on, I immediately go to TWRP recovery, even after fastboot flashing CWM recovery...
I posted stock recovery for you in your other thread. Thanks to the developer for the app flashify who worked me last night and today to get this app working for the one max .
Sent from my HTC6600LVW using Tapatalk 4
It would be great if you started a thread that explained how flashify works with the Max now. I tried it earlier on and it didnt work. With it we dont necessarily need flashable zips for stock files.

Just in case you or anyone is wondering you cannot use flashify unless you can boot into android as it is an app.
Yes sir. Bootloader unlocked and S-OFF. Booting into Android is not an option, so I'm wondering how I go about flashing these files provided to me being in .bin format? Can I flash them using fastboot? Or can I rename .bin to .img?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Just add the .IMG to the files. They are IMG files.

And by the way guys.....there will be an updated flashify on the market shortly that will support both kernel and recovery backup creation while booted into android. It runs as a regular app and simply requires root. It will also flash custom kernels and recoveries as well.

Fastboot flash boot (bootfilename)
Just replace the (bootfilename) part with the file name you are using
Example
Fastboot flash boot g6f789c8.img
Edit- also I checked and found that drop box must have added the .bin extension. The flashify app leaves them without extension because it assumes they are .IMG files. Therefore, they can simply be renamed to .IMG. Didn't notice that in the hurry to post.

Awesome. I thank you for the help. I'll let you know if it's a success. Will be the first thing to do upon getting home, after grabbing a beer of course. Lol
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
What you need to do is fastboot the stock recovery, you shouldn't need the stock boot.img unless you tried to flash someone else's kernel for a different device... Anyways yeah you need to fastboot the stock recovery by rebooting in to bootloader and typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" given the stock recovery is "recovery.img" which it should be.. Once stock recovery is installed boot in to the stock recovery any way you can possibly get to it and do a full factory data reset.. This will wipe the entire phone as well as reset the Verizon radio/baseband and theoretically you should be able to boot right back up and cell and data connection should resume as normal! Good luck and PM me if you need any further help and I'll give you my gmail/hangouts so you can hit me up directly right there..

@stargo has released a updated safestrap (v3.75 - Jan 2015)
Cm12 requires safestrap v3.75 (or newer)
Safestrap-XXXXX-v3.75.apk (31-Jan-2015 )
if you installed the debugged version likely do not need to upgrade, but if you have 3.74 or lower use Safestrap-XXXXXX-v3.75.apk (or newer)
follow the readme.txt instructions on the download site

So other than uninstalling the recovery through the old app, then deleting it then installing the newer 3.75 apk app, is there anything else someone should be mindful of?
I'm about to upgrade my safestrap from 3.73 to 3.75 myself on my XT912... Backing up everything while I read and reply...
