Best of luck upgrading!

Same here, i fast forwarded my phone clock by 24 hours 5 time to push through the update check time limit, still no downloading. The server is probably congested, if I'm able to get through tonight somehow I'll post up the update file, otherwise I might just wait it out a few days and let the update hit me when its supposed to.
Mine was downloading really slow, and after around 60% it failed. Now I have to wait 24 hours before I can check for an update.

So they removed the menu button in this navigation. Some apps like this XDA app, the menu button doesn't appear. What are we supposed to do if we need the menu button?

Ok so I'm pretty new to the android scene. Today I got a notice that I had a update so I unrooted because of people saying that if updating while rooted it will brick then I clicked apply update. My phone then rebooted and said up date failed. Im guessing from the lack of cell reception. Does any one know how to try again if I check for updates it says no firmware thankyou in advanced

There are a couple of ways to do it,
1) force your system to check for update
2) use ODIN to manually update, you can grab the software from the development section in the bible.
ok i tried to force update but it doesnt do anything then i tried to clear the data from the Device management app and check for updates again and it says system not ready check network or sim so im guessing i should just wait it out to see if they push it again. i would rather stay away from the sdk area i just got the phone out of the black screen of death today.
I take it you can 3 finger salute your phone if needed?
I personally feel the easiest thing to do is update it through mini Kies. If you need further instructions on how to do it, let me know.
I'm gonna hold off for a week because tmobile is sending me a new phone for some other issues I'm having but how would I update through mini kies cuz the gps on this phone takes so long so when I get the new phone I'm gonna fix that

Question says it all, still waiting, hope to get this thing working like it should !
I haven't got it yet...but for me it looks like the site is down...grrr...Been having some random reboots...hopefully this ota helps
No update here either. I just spoke to an Asus rep and he said it will be up tomorrow. Take this with a grain of salt because he also mentioned that the version of ICS that we have been running is quote "from android" and the Asus version will be available tomorrow . Also can someone also check if your "check update" is working under settings. Mine just sits there after clicking and does nothing. The Asus site is also down for me but works fine if I'm tethered and using mobile date. I wonder if that's related. Thanks in advance

I just got the update now, rebooting as I type. I'm in Toronto.
Am getting the update notice since early this morning, trying to install, but poor Android dude drops dead on its back with a big red triangle busting out of it's gut ???? Wtf ???
Update cant install. Is it because i'm rooted?
Battery is at 50%, could that b the cause?
I' ll keep you posted
Still refusing to install update on a full charge now, am not getting any specific error code of any kind, just reboots after a few minutes without update, stuck on buggy 9.2.4.7 !!!!!

Update installed at 11:45pm (19th) in Toronto. Lost root but recovered it with previously installed OTA rootkeeper. Everything seems to be working smoothly. Haven't checked whether the gps is any more responsive yet.
BTW, I wasn't having any of the reboot issues so things haven't changed there.
I decided to check for any software updates this morning and to my surprise, it said that there were updates available but, the servers were busy. I then went about my business and decided to check again a few minutes ago and it now says that my current software is up to date and I can check again tomorrow. The thing is, I was never given notification that a software update was downloaded or installed.
Does anyone know how to reset the time stamp so that I can run the software update checker again? I would like to determine if this was just an error on AT&T's servers or if there really is an update available for my phone.
Thanks,
-Sharples

Likely just a glitch or just an error communicating with the server. AFAIK, there are no AT&T updates.
No updates yet. But if you really want to reset the counter go into Menu > Settings > Applications and erase the data for AT&T Software Update.
Or, I believe just changing the date to one day later will work as well (it did on the Cappy anyway).
Thanks guys for the quick response! I did reset the counter as mentioned and indeed, it was a glitch on At&T's side.
Just Checked and got this

Yep, I got the same thing...
I've been searching for an answer for a while actually so maybe resurrecting this thread will bring an answer.
Same here... some reason my only allows me once per 24hours it said once..lol.. but now it says what your does
Nope, I get current software is up to date.

You can go to the update app and clear the cache and data.
Does this reset the counter to 24 hours?

I'm just curious if this resets the counter to 24 hours?
I just changed the day to 1 day ahead. Whoop whoop!
Just connected my Xperia to the computer tonight (Thursday 7 May 2012) and it told me the *73 update was available.
I had flashed generic *67 UK ROM a couple weeks ago, to rid bloatware from O2, so, it's still unbranded after the update, much to my relief!
I was surprised at the update really, as I believe ICS is just around the corner, but, it's always nice to get an update.
Let's hope it improves battery life, maybe even more so with ICS???
It's 7 JUNE? Also. 75 is available
Wake up :-D

yes finally lol
73?
I'm also in UK and just connected my phone to PC Companion and got 'surprised' by the window displaying 6.0.A.3.75 being available for my phone.
yeah mines says .75 as well
I'm definitely gonna have to check this out when I power the laptop in the morning.
Anyone noticed any real changes yet? Like battery performance or stability etc...

Bought my XS from 3 last week (arrived last Friday) and it had .73 on it already
How can I tell if it's 3 branded or not? It's 6.0.A.3.73.
Boot up screen will have a big 3 logo on it. Usually a good sign that its branded.
Any ftf for this anywhere...???
I take it it's not available OTA right?
No dont think s.
You guys are a bit late there. The rest of the world has had .73 for a month or so and are on .75 now.
UK generic is on. 75 now I think OP made a mistake on the title

I've flashed the CE1. 75 update already, but is it worth me changing back to uk now? Or does it not really make any difference? For ICS update etc?
Heh, good about time. It's been on .67 since I bought it. Had the random popup that surprised me too while the phone was unplugged and I was browsing the web... Going straight to .75 tonight. Hope we can keep up this time.

I think that whichever region gets ICS first, I'll be flashing that region's FW as quick as you like!
Changing APN from default blocks OTA and OTA notifications. Copy default minus fota and save then select the new one.
Edit...if you already have the notification this will probably not remove it.
Thank you for this very useful information:good:
Removing fota does nothing.
Setup the new apn your way, then rebooted. OTA still appear still starts with the phone. You need to freeze two services using Titanium Bkup to ensure OTA is disabled. Did it this way, worked for about 2 days without any notice. Fool mproof.

This worked for me on att, see screenshot E97010o is the updated firmware I am still on the original.
Here guys
Froze these!!!
I'm on the base.05.
I bought my phone on Black Friday and was too busy to mess with it that day. I had WiFi on and overnight it updated itself from version E97010l (IIRC) to E97010o. I haven't had time to read the full FreeGee thread but I believe I have to wait for the unlock method/tool to be updated. Wish I saw this sooner as I assumed it would require me to select to install the OTA update

Good to know! I planned on going through the thread later after work.
So, just by removing "fota", you are protected from OTA? Any side effects from this mod? I want to know that fota's only function is OTA on the phone, can anyone confirm?
