Hi.
Let's be honest: I hate that device already with a passion. So please tell me that this is normal/fine/acceptable and really no reason for concern, just me being silly.
My brother grabbed my S6E yesterday, played with it and then asked "What's wrong with the display?". And now I cannot unsee that/see it all the time.
Basically the thing has a horizontal 'line' in the upper third of the display, a couple of small 'grooves' and a long vertical 'line' about 1/3 off the right of the screen.
All of these things seem to be below the glass. The glass is perfect. This device is in mint condition. No scratches, no drops or anything.
I'm a crappy photographer, but I think the attached pictures show the horizontal line and the largest 'groove'. I didn't manage to catch the vertical line, but it's just as prominent and much longer (2/3 to 3/4 of the device height).
Looks like something's bent below the surface?

Did it yesterday, luckily the samsung rep was in store and I showed him.
Under ten minutes later leaving store with brand new replacement.
New display is perfect.

Dang! Just got a hot pixel in my 3rd brand new prime after returning twice in the past couple of months. As much as i love the prime design, i think i am going to jump ship. Too many issues to deal with
Hot pixel? What's that?

I'm wondering the same thing..lol
Hot pixels are individual pixels which look much brighter than they should. They are also called sparkles.

Interesting never heard of or seen it before must be pretty rare.
I didn't know what a "hot pixel" was until I read this, I used to simply call them "super bright pixel defect(s)"
Pics, or it didn't happen.

lol i have the same thing. doesnt bother me though. it's like an inch from the bottom halfway across the screen. think of it as adding character to your prime
i'll prob be returning mine to tiger direct and getting a different unit...hopefully one of the newest batches!

Not possible to ignore. It's pretty much in the middle of the screen.
Here is a picture of it. It's much larger than a pixel so i am not sure exactly what you call this.

What you're showing isn't a hot pixel. A hot pixel is the same as a stuck pixel and is much smaller (i.e., the size of a pixel). Your picture shows a different kind of defect, which I've been calling a bright spot. One of these developed on my Prime after owning it for a month. It's a similar size to yours and in a similar spot. I started a thread on this the other day.

Right now they are rare. In the early days of LCD it was a nightmare. Buying LCD then was like a lottery. The photo shows not a hot pixel but sth else though, not sure what - a dusk over the screen or some other defect.

I've got one of them on my Prime, bottom left corner, I thought it was the LED backlight showing through..
Funny enough, I also have 4 on my HP Dreamcolor display equipped £2500 8740w laptop too!
Send it all back!

I have one too, and also think it's the backlight bleeding through. Also, I'm 100% sure my spot wasn't there when I got the tablet, and showed up over a month after having it.
Yes, I don't think it was there when i got the tablet on Tuesday. It just showed up yesterday. It's going back. Sux to re-customize the tablet every time I get a replacement

Mine is in a very similar spot compared to yours. It's disconcerting that the spots both showed up after a while for both of us - mine showed up after a month of regular use. What if you swap it out, set it up again, and then have another spot show up months later?
I'm not RMA'ing mine at the moment, since there are so many other problems you can get with this tablet. I've been burned before exchanging tech items for small problems and getting back units with much worse problems. Plus, I've seen a few threads with people sending their units to Asus and then being told they won't get it back for over a month due to parts shortages. Also, I'm not holding my breath for it, but I'd hate to RMA for this now and then in a month, see a WiFi fix offered via RMA. Maybe I'll RMA it down the line, but certainly not now.

Do you think they were there all along and you just missed them, or do you think they're new? One of my concerns is more forming over time.
K so I bought my 1st phone from expansys and had bad overheating issues. They were very nice in exchanging it for me. But now I noticed on by replacement phone there are like 6-8 spider cracks around the one side of the rear speaker. You can tell the back plate cracked from factory speaker install. Did anyone notice this on their phone? I emailed expansys again. Do u think they'd give me a hard time on getting another replacement? I hate to see the back case crack worse then it already is.

On top of that add some other issues like black screen ink marks and tell them backcover makes a sound when u click on it. That should be enough to get a refund or replacement

Today I went to best buy to buy this because they price matched letstalk to 199$. The woman I delt with sighed and ughed the whole time. Really rude. I ended up adding a line. Burning a sim. And moving the phone to my main line to get the upgrade.
Now I noticed this when I got home but im disappointed in build quality. I dont know if it was me snapping the back cover back on. But the top of my screen was loose. And the bottom leaked light from the leds because well..the glue holding the screen clearly was not that good. I immediately called back and was upset and went to exchange and now im all fine.
But now im paranoid about snapping back in my back cover. How cheaply made is this thing? Anyone run into hardware issues yet? Best buy has a 30 day exchange policy. Thank god.

im referring to the bottom of the phone, when the leds were lit up, you saw on the side of the phone light leakage, and on the top of the phone if you pushed down gently on any corner the screen was loose.
Sounds like a bad device. I haven't had any problems and since there aren't many threads about it, I'd say that other users aren't having problems either.

i just hope this isnt a common issue, i don't want it to happen to this one as well.
They wouldn't give me a price match to letstalk
I can assure you that this is NOT a normal issue with this phone... But, if you don't think something is right about it then you have every right to exchange! It's YOUR money and if your not happy then exchange away...
Only reason I got is because they price matched. I told them I know its not on your list. But other best buys have done.

Samsung's thin battery covers are reasonably robust regarding battery removal and handling. Even improperly installed, the plastic has given and snapped into place. I owned a Charge and Galaxy Nexus with similar battery covers and I have never broken a tab.
I have (3) batteries for my Note 2 and swap every other day without worry of breaking anything. Samsung knows removable covers...
Yeah ive had a nexus and s3 no issues. Note 2 day one screen lose from snapping in battery cover or something . Go figure.

So I just got a new Galaxy S3.
It hasn't been a day and i've noticed a kind of a shade that looks like the "super amoled" logo that's on the sticker that you peel off.
I really hadn't noticed it at first but now it's really annoying on white background.
I've found a picture on the web so that you guys can see my problem.
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3724/img2689su.jpg
Is there any way to get rid of this? I've tried running so called burn in fix apps but none of them worked.
I've also tried using wet wipes but it didn't remove it.. so It's not stains or anything and it appears like its burnt on the screen
Everything else is great about this phone but it's just this shade that looks like "c" that annoys me!
I have 6 months warranty but my dad bought it in Japan and he just returned from there and it's not like he's there every month so it's a bit of a problem.
If you have any solutions or if anyone here encountered the same thing please please share your experience.
Thanks in advance!

no alcohol is not dangerous (or any other liquid), as long as you do not let it seep through the sides of the phone.
I don't think that mark is inside, the plastic cover is outside and I don't imagine ever seeing a screen saver image of that type unless you have used one...
Hmmmm, its not only the c, you can see inside of the c the word amoled and on the top you can see the word galaxy s3

No not that I know of, my father took it off.
Anyway how silly it is to put sticker on the phone if there is a risk to get burn in because of sun light?? this is ridiculous from them!
at least warn the customers.
I don't know.. it's not like a stain or something because it seems imprinted inside the screen ;(

Return it or get it exchanged. That screen got exposed to sunlight while having the sticker on.
Probably a display unit (which you would not want to have).

Ship or take to them .
Fact is standard warranty from a vendor is usually 12 months standard limited warranty from Samsung is 24 months .

I will contact them and I will also add pictures of the phone and all of the receipts..
And I see that when you ship the item to them you need to fill an RMA form so that no additional customs will be charged.
Hello,
I dropped my galaxy s3 face down, the screen was on, very light drop about 30cm. At first the screen presented a very faint purple stain on the upper right corner. Took the battery off, put it on, boot sounds, led flashes... but the screen wont turn on. If I call the phone, it rings.
I took it to samsung service and they said my warranty was voided due to bad use... They want to charge me about U$ 300 for the new screen (I live in Brazil). I seriosly do not consider this a bad use and they identified that it was dropped. The phone has suffered from some bad drops, it has no cracks, nothing. This was a very light drop about 30cm, I cannot believe the product is so fragile.
My first concern is with the quality of the service. Will my phone be exactly the same after the screen repair? We are talking about a authorized samsung service center but who knows... Are there any known problems with replaced screens?
My second concern is that it feels like I am being ripped off and this is a easy fix... Feels like something is disconnected between the phone and the display.
Another thing to consider is that customer protection services in Brazil are a joke, I'll just waste my time.
In two days i'll have a detailed report with pictures and everything, I can post it here.
Does anyone have any ideia how they can prove that the phone was dropped it if has no cracks on the screen?
Best regards.
There are signs in a screen invisible to you that will identify that it was dropped, yeah. They can tell the difference between manufacturing fault (which is what warranty covers) and shock damage.

Do you think it is worth taking it to a independent store?
Maybe it is a easy fix? Or do you think it is really damaged. Any experience or ever heard of any case like this?

Sure it is.
Product has been dropped from very tall places. Usually on its back or corners. Nothing.
One drop when I was crouching, screen down, barely made a sound, and it is dead.
So a correction: I cannot believe the screen is so fragile. The phone sure is not.
Any further contribution is appreciated
Best regards,
It could be the screen was damaged in all those big drops too. This last drop could have been "the straw that broke the camel's back". We don't know. Worthless discussion
