S3 stuck in ODIN
OK I've tried everything and read as many threads as I could find. Here's the scenario
- stuck in ODIN mode
- try to get into Recovery mode but it just flashes and goes away and then back into ODIN mode
- KIES sees the phone and I can kick off a firmware upgrade and initialization but I want to try and keep all the data
- I've tried 4 different version of ODIN and stock ROMs from ATT, all FAIL immediately and now the device boots into ODIN mode with Flash Read Failure error
Any ideas?
I didnt understand werry vell but try this if you can enter recover connect your samsung to pc and pull out your files am not shure if you can do this with CWM recovery but you can with twrp then delete everthing (factory reset will keep your files) download offical firmware from sammobile or simmilar and flash it with odin
What was the last thing you did before you got stuck
Edit

Hi.
Last night I was trying to flash CWM recovery via Odin. The screen suddenly showed following message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
Kies will not recognize my phone. I cant boot to recovery mode (was running android recovery before this). The only thing I can do with it is boot to download mode. Odin still finds the phone.
Even when I connect the charger above message displays.
Any master who has a clue?
Bad flash
Flash stock rom via Odin.
Fails its a service centre job
Custom rom counter above zero = no warranty likewise rooted kernel .
Reset rom counter to zero with USB jig flash stock rom to remove root .

OP, if you're a beginner (like me), check out the boot loop thread that is stickied in this subforum - it has all the steps you need to do laid out in order: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499

check firmware version and try to download it again. it could be corrupted copy. turn of your phone then put into download mode then try again with the new copy.
Guys,
I've tried to update my Android's firmware from v2.2.1 to the ICS rom.
The issue started when I've tried to flash CWR through ODIN.
All procedures have been done: loaded the cooper, and the CWR .tar, put my mobile on Download Mode, plugged USB, Odin showed <1> Added!!! <1> Detected!!! and hit the Start button.
After waiting for about 30min there was no response from ODIN, then, I removed the USB and closed ODIN. After that I turned on my Galaxy Ace and the following scenario came up: an image of a pc connected to phone with exclamation mark in between.
Later I tried to recover my mobile by flashing the firmware of v2.3.6 through ODIN as well. It started well, but, in the middle of the installation it failed.
What can I do?
Please, it's urgent!
Thanks in advance folks!
happened with me a lot....but i usually flash the stock firmware with odin and my phone becomes good as new. try again to flash stock firmware via odin.
if i'm not mistaken maclaw's ics needs gb bootloader, thus need to flash stock gb rom beforehand. u cant just go straight from froyo to ics :/
btw try this.
turn off phone, remove battery, wait for around 5-10 seconds, press three button combination for download mode (vol down+home+power) and while u still holding those three buttons reinsert the battery. device should go into download mode and u should be able to reflash with stock gb rom via odin. and good luck with it.
so I recently Tried to flash stock rom onto my i717 i think it disconnected half way and now its stuck in this odin mode i keep trying to get it into download mode but nothing will work i even tried a jig when i connect to samsung kies it says device not responding
any help here ?
Reboot your pc, start odin, connect phone to pc, odin will connect, flash your rom.
That is just another version of the download mode screen.
Are you sure you have an i717?

Looks like you have a different model then the i717. Read up top in download mode, and read through this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33601483
Flashing stuff for other model phones can brick your device so always read read read. Good luck
Hello, recently my Samsung s3 just shut off instantly and when I tried turning it back on it just remained stuck on the boot screen. It only shows "Samsung galaxy s III GT-I9300" there's no animations or noises after that or before it when you try to boot it up. Then I tried entering recovery mode but that failed, the only thing it can enter is download mode. So i tried to flash a stock ROM via Odin, however this failed. I'm not sure why since im not too familiar with flashing roms, I may have used the wrong stock rom for my phone. I bought this from T-mobile and had it unlocked to all networks, I did root this phone about two years ago, so it has a custom ROM flashed on it previously. If someone can take me through the steps to flash with the correct ROM it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
You don't flash ROM's via Odin in the same way as you do via your phone (CWM, Philz etc).
As I've just experienced the same problem try this.
Get Odin (3.0.4 upwards)
Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on your PC (can be found by searching this forum)
Put phone in download mode
Start Odin
Goto androidfirmwares.net and download an i9300 ROM (must be a ROM file!!)
Unzip it (7zip, Winzip etc)
press PDA button in Odin. Select the file you just just unzipped (which should end .tar.md5)
Wait for it to check MD5
Click Start
You should then, fingers crossed, have a bootable S3.
From their you can install whatever you please once you have installed CWM or some other recovery.
