Good day,
I couldn't find any similiar posts, decided to post a new thread.
I have two i9300's ( Let's call them A & B ) where motherboard B only outputs garbled sound through the speaker. It's definatly not the speaker, and more likely to be the issue of motherboard B since both speakers work on A.
So what my question is, does anyone who has expierence with this hardware knows what points I should a look at hardware wise?
I'll check up on this thread once I wake up.
Thanks in advance.
( Reason A's motherboard is to be replaced is because B's screen is broke, and A doesn't charge anymore. )

Hi all,
As i started servicing all pdas for a couple of monthes (only as a hobby, i fix them for friends and relatives), i came across one BA that gave me some trouble.
i got it to replace its LCD that was broken as it was dropped and thats very simple to replace it, so far so good. now it has two main problems :
1. no sound from speaker (even when in speakerphone mode), but there is sound in the stereo earphones (i plugged to the connector by the sd card slot). - i can only assume that a bluetooth handsfree device it will also work.
2. although the backup battery is fully charged, if i remove the main battery even for a brief second, when turned on, the BA acts as if i made a hard reset.
as for solving the problems :
1. using a digital multimeter, i managed to track the conductivity from the internal speaker through its connector, flat ribbon to the connector which connects to the main pcb - so there is no contact problem from the speaker to the main pcb.
using the help from WIKI, i went to site that has the list of all components and their description - the IC that is responsible for audio amp is a MAXIM's MAX4410 which is a stereo headphone driver. a quick look at its charasteristics and typical configuration and i understood that (assuming this is the IC that drives the internal speaker) the speaker should have one pin which is ground and the other goes to the amplified signal from the IC. neither one of the pins showed it has GND to it. so maybe there is a bad GND line to the connector.
2. regarding the backup battery issue i do not know what makes this problem.
I am sharing this info with you all with two ideas in mind :
1. to resolve my problem and know those devices hardware better.
2. because i am quite a while watching xda-developers and WIKI and i got the feeling that a lot of eforth is given to the software side of all those pdas (which is greate!!! keep going, this work helps lots of people and it shows al thos mega corps they are not the only ones), but the hardware is a bit forgotten and left behind. let me tell you this, there are many VERY simple mini projects i made useing electronics (i am an electronics engineer in my profession) that made my life easy . i am now investigating those instruments hardware as i have several ideas to develope useful accessories to my pda (like an external IR transciver to control IR devices like TV,DVD and to communicate with my laptop, and some other ideas) and i believe we can do the same info sharing as done on software side but on the hardware side.
I will thank any ideas, thoghts or commentsabout this matter. Yol.
Resently ppl have been complaning there can hardly hear me on my phone i guess my mic is getting faulty so is the mic located on the flex cable or the keypad menbrane cuz i will like 2 change it so ppl can hear me again.
I think you should try asking in the general tp2 forum, not the Accessories forum. You might get more help there.
Hey guys, I have a hardware issue but first the background story
So my phone fell on concrete and the screen broke. I bought a digitizer and replaced it myself. After a month or so, I broke it again. I replaced it, but the unit I got was faulty, and I only got the replacement today.
I opened the phone again and replaced the digitizer, and it's working great!
however in the process I must have done something wrong since my audio/sound doesn't work anymore.
1)Loud speaker works just fine and the microphone works since I am able to talk to people and they hear me
2) When I plug in my earset, the sound works just fine on the earphone. The microphone switches over the earset's microphone and I can hear/talk just fine.
The only problem that I have is I can't hear anything if i put phone next to my ear :/ I opened again looked around, but didn't find anything obvious that might explain wha went wrong. Would anyone know where to look/what to test?
Cheers
anyone any idea please? D:
I haven't opened up my Mozart just yet but from my experience with HTC phones I would suggest checking the contacts of the speaker. They tend to have little springs on the speaker that come in contact with the mainboard and this is how the signal is transmitted. If these contacts are damaged then you will not hear anything.
With all the drops you may have damaged the speaker itself but I'm not sure of a way you could test that.
The problem i had was that I used my sony ericsson X8 headset and the sound came out funny, the thing that was cuasing it was the microphone. Try stock headset to see if it works. If it doesnt then you might want to get someone to check it or fix it. Up to you.
I'm sure this has come up but Im using Tapatalk and the search feature will not allow me to search posts in one forum that I know od. I get results from whole site.
I have a Streak 5 with no sound coming from phone ear piece. Speaker phone and bluetooth are fine. Is this a hardware or software problem?

same here
I have had this same problem but it comes and goes - with mine when the earpiece is failing the ringtone is also affected. I keep the vibrate on - that way I can tell if the problem is happening and then enable the speaker phone when answering a call.
Some people on the web say it's software others say the opposite.
Mine is intermittent so I'd guess it's hardware, maybe a bad contact or failing part.
Found this spares supplier, thought about replacing the earpiece.

Let it's know if you find a fix
Had the same problem...earpiece speaker not working...it seems that the earphone jack socket had slightly moved & not making good contact. Used a jewelers screwdriver to shift it back & now not a prob...
My headphone socket failed recently - was only giving audio out of one channel (right ear). I think this was due to it being bent slightly when having earphones in sat in a small pocket.
So I ordered the new headphone socket piece, which also includes the vibrating part (I think) and also speaker for the earpiece. I coudlnt find any decent instructions online for how to remove the original piece so I kind of forced it out, which seemed no problem as there is just one connection which slots on and off very easily (although the earpiece was glued in).
Anyways, I inserted the new one as the previous one was and tried to turn the phone and nothing. I tried several different earphones and one of them (stock) did pick up some audio but was very crackly. I then tried to make call and noticed the audio in the earpiece was completely gone.
Is it more likely the piece I bought to replace was just being temperamental or have I screwed something while removing the original piece? Debating whether to just sell an otherwise great condition phone or trying to order another piece.
Thanks
anyone have a clue about thjis?
Never, under any circumstances mess with electronics if you dont know what you're doing. Even if its a simpler thing like this.
Especially on an expensive toy like this. I even dont know where did you get the guts to open the phone and mess with it like you're a pro...
