[Q]Catch what causes my phone to restart - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is there any way to catch what causes my phone to restart randomly?
It's happens both on my LG V10 and Lenovo Yoga Tab 3.
It's not feasible to uninstall apps one by one, because it happens randomly, and that would not help.
Any way to log triggers or events in the phone that might cause phone restart?
Kind regards,
Daniel

hope you dont have two devices with the same problem because you say they have the same problem! Have you try to do a factory reset on both?! - if not, could you try and say if that works!
with V10 can be a lot of things...with lenovo idk what could be...but most probably you have a defective unit, same as V10.

it's a software problem, because i factory reset the lenovo and I don't have the problem anymore. Unfortunately, MyBackup backed up my apps on the internal memory, and the factory reset wiped it. And google app restore failed me again, because it did not restore apps, and so i can't compare apps from the mobile phone and the tablet to see the common one that might cause this.
Does anyone know of a reliable backup app for non rooted devices, that back up on the SD card, and auto restores all apps?

SGS3 problem with losing all sounds

Hello,
I bought recently the new SGS3 and after a week or two of using I noticed the phone loses all the sounds despite all of them are turned on and not being on minimum. After a while the sounds get back and everything works fine. At first I thought it might be from the settings because I set up silent mode for all notifications and I thought it may turn all the sounds off, despite it normally shouldn't. After playing for a while with the phone I realized the issue appears randomly without any reasons while I was playing game or simply navigating through the phone. If anyone had experienced the same issue or have an idea what could be the problem (software, hardware, settings, OS, etc) or how it can be solved, please respond. Any answer is appreciated as the problem is quite annoying as I'm missing calls because of it.
Thank you.
Phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S III
Android version - 4.0.4
Baseband version - I9300BOLF1
Kernel version - 3.0.15-782020
Build number - IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB
P.S. Restart of the phone doesn't help as I already tried it. The issues is related to all the sounds not to the vibration, the last works fine.

Thank you for your advise JJEgan, unfortunately it didn't help neither. Yesterday I did the factory reset and left it as it is, didn't restore any of my previous settings or apps, didn't install anything additional, just wanted to see if the problem will appear again, and unfortunately it did.
Anything else I can try or I should take it to a service?
Thank you
I have the same problem with notification sounds. The problem appears when i turn off notifications on apk like im+ or Yahoo messenger. Is there any other solution rather than factory rest?

weird problem

since last update 1.41 everything seems ok apart from when I am disconnected from internet via wifi or data themer crashes,as soon as I reconnect it is fine, anyone else have a similar problem ?
this only applies to any themes made in 1.41,any themes that are made in previous version do not require wifi/data access, can't believe just me having this issue.Have gone down the remove install but issue still persists.

Just updated and problem seems to have vanished now, thanks to devs for quick solve
Problem not resolved yet.
I updated from 1.41 to 1.42 yesterday but the problem still persists.
Whenever i get disconnected from wifi or mobile data, i get to see an irritating pop-up every 1 minute saying: "The app found information about previous cashed. would you like to send this data to the developer?"
I have send it numerous times but it is still there. Its too much irritating.
I also tried uninstalling the themer app and deleting the my colorscreen folder, then restarted the phone and reinstalled the themer. But the problem is still there.
For additional information: This weird problem has started since addition of stupid "bollywood" category
yeah I just made a post regarding this as I now have the same issue m8,sent bloody loads of reports, and you are correct removing themer completely and reinstall does not work
the only way I have managed to get it working properly is to do a factory reset of the phone.Everything else including numerous deletes and reinstall does not work,I tried this as a last resort. Can someone let us know why themer seems to be holding onto the crash data, which as posted above is so annoying, and I or anyone else shouldn't have to factory reset to correct,Can this issue be looked into please by developers,as it can't just be the two of us having this issue.

So for both of you, the problem only occurs when you get disconnected from WiFi/mobile data? Does this include going into Airplane mode?
We want to see if we can replicate this on our end.

Yes, this includes the Airplane mode as well. (Obviously)
Yep as above and guess what factory reset does not solve it same problem this morning even though no errors in themer after reset, and agan plane mode is the same when not connected

We're just trying to replicate the problem. There hasn't been anyone else with the same issue, therefore we need as much info as possible. I put my Nexus 5 on Airplane mode every night and haven't experienced the problem, hence asking the question.

I assume there must be numerous people out there who might be facing the same issue, may be they are following this thread and just waiting for us to reach the resolution of the problem.
I agree with you that the more information will help you to diagnose the problem in better way, and I appreciate your support.
I own stock Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with Android 4.3. I''ll appreciate if "alldroid" and any other who is having the same issue, share their device info here.
Already did above somewhere m8 galaxy s4 running stock kitkat,it has to be themer related other wise the factory reset would have solved it.The only other solution is that the theme itself held on to the errors prior to remove and delete, but even if it did it is a themer problem imo as once an error log is sent it should be removed frm themers memory

We'll keep searching to see if more people are reporting this problem. There is a huge update coming up, I'll see if the update is fixing this issue.
still have the issue and I refuse to believe only two of us have this issue, either that or we are the two most unluckiest themer app users in the world
latest update and..........problem solved no longer asks to send crash data when no net connection
No guys, you are not alone, I'm having this issue too anytime I disconnect my device from a wifi or mobile data, even during poor connection even though with the new update this should be fixed. I don't know if this happens in Airplane mode, never used that mode but I'll try and give you feedback.

[Q] Unfortunately,android.process.acore has stopped

Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I have tried and have not seen the message. Will keep you updated if it has conpletely gone

Update: It happened again when I reboot my phone today. Is it possible a firmware bug?
I should wait for the next release, hope Sony will fix this issue.
Regards,
I'm on romaur which is 402 and haven't seen this error since I wiped contacts data so not sure, you still on stock or?

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

possible fix
i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.

Xperia Z2 freezes when using web messengers like Whatsapp

Hi,
I bought a new Sony Xperia Z2 and installed whatsapp on it. In the beginning there were no issues, but eventually, while using whatsapp the phone started freezing and everytime I have to hard shutdown inorder to get the phone back online to work normally. This only happens when I use whatsapp. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Is there a way to overcome this issue? Please suggest a work around. Thanks in advance.:crying::crying:

this sounds like a framework issue
try repairing your device via sony pc companion
Also, I tried using the pc companion to repair the phone. It started working much better till I installed whatsapp again, that the freezing started again. Is there any way to know what is causing the problem? Any suggestions on how to tweak the software to prevent it from occuring once again. Please advice

It seems that nobody else has come with such an issue or it's relatively new that nobody has an answer to, yet!!
Could you let me know, if possible, whether a sim card would have anything to do with this issue? I contacted the service centre and they asked me to change my sim card and check. As I have also mentioned that I have already tried repairing the phone using PC companion. Any suggestions/advices are welcome.
Thanks...

Did this just happen out of the blue or has it always happened? Did this just happen after an OTA update?
Did you modify the phone at all (root/etc)... did you power cycle the phone, clear cache partition, try doing the factory data reset the phone?
If software issues can be ruled out then it's very likely a hardware issue. You will have to have the phone serviced.

If you do the factory data reset be sure to try the camera at the default settings... Try it a few times to make sure that it works (or doesn't work) more then once. If it works with default settings then make a change to bring it closer to what you had it at before.
Ultimately your trying to see if it is a software issue (a setting) that is causing you the problem. By making small changes here and there you can know which change caused the issue. Making more then one change at a time will make it harder to narrow down the cause.
The Factory Data Reset will hopefully resolve any software related issues on the phone. Try to not use a smart switch backup, it may cause the problem to come back again. I ran into this with my dialer app hanging up on all outgoing calls... FDR without using a smart switch backup worked perfectly, using the smart switch backup just caused the problem with the dialer to happen again.
