What exactly is the deal with the fingerprint scanner on the XZ1 ? To my understanding the ones being sold in the US have it disabled. Does this mean it can be re-enabled with customization? This website is (s-worldelectronics.ca) for Canadians but doesn't say anything about fingerprint scanner.

It can be made active by flashing an international firmware, yes.

New V10 update from Verizon, anyone try it yet?

Haven't received it yet. But very disappointed that it does not contain the fingerprint fix.
Don't download any updates if you want to root the device in the future.
Grabbed a quick screen capture...sorry for not noticing your link.

Actually, this update fixed fingerprint problem. Fingerprint sensor now works flawlessly with Obliq Flex Pro case

Oh really ... that's awesome to know! I'll test it as soon as my phone gets it. I guess they never mentioned it in the release notes since they didn't want to acknowledge that the problem existed in the first place
I'm loading it now. I'll let everyone know Once I have a chance to fool around with it.

I have to say it is working marvelously now for me too. I had just given up on using it as it was more of a miss than hit on working.
Loaded it, fingerprint scanner with case worked before. Still works, but seems......better? When it was updating it looked like it was applying two updates/patches. Don't know if that is normal.
So far so good with the fingerprint fix with case. Was terrible before this update and now it seems like it was when I didn't have a case. Going to add a finger to see if that process is smoother.
Fingerprint scanner working like a charm now (including with case). Also, doesn't require the full finger to be placed as before (BIG WIN)
Makes me feel better now for not getting a Nexus 6p
Got it. Fingerprint reader now works with case on phone. Wi-Fi is better.
Can also confirm fingerprint sensor works really well. About time!
Ditto finger print reader working better than ever with all my cases. Surprised the did not mention it in notes.

Yep, this fixed the fingerprint issue with my Spigen Armor case. Works immediately every time.
Over on Android Central people are reporting louder volume with Google Play Music, bluetooth working were it didn't before, and wifi working better after the update. You can also now julienne fries with the V10......
fingerprint does seem to work with cases, really well now..
I did however find an issue with it.. if you have the phone charging and with a case, the fingerprint seems to not work just like before.
can someone else try it?

Just popped it on a charger, with case....no problem unlocking with fingerprint scanner.
Yes, my speaker volume seems to be louder after the update.
Can anyone with louder volume show their mixer paths? Or shoot me the file? Thanks in advance.
I'm in the US and i've had an international version of the z5c. I sold it to try the nexus 5x. I love the smoothness of the 5x but the size is too big. Soo.. I'm wanting to go back to the z5c which is finally being released as a US variant. The problem is that it won't come with a fingerprint scanner and it's actually more money!! But probably has a warranty which is good. . Now I know I can still buy the international still but do you think that the radios inside will work better for US carriers? Or is the only difference the fingerprint scanner? Honestly I wasn't impressed with Sony's implementation of the scanner anyway.. I thought it didn't work very well but if it's the exact same reception, I'd just buy another international model.

If you want root, international must be better. I think not many developers will get the one without fingerprint. The radio is just same.

Agreed. Sometimes it is flawless and lets me in instantly while sometimes I tap the thing five times and have to type in my password. Also, since it is still running Lollipop no apps can use the fingerprint reader unless the get the API from Sony. I hope that changes with Marshmallow.

Personally I really like it.
It had to redo the calibration a few times though. However, this isn't exactly the fault of the scanner. The problem was simply that how I placed my finger on the scanner during my first calibrations was somewhat different than how I place it on the scanner on everyday use. I. e. more to the front or to the back or to the side, it varies with the finger used. So if you often use your fingertip for pressing the button but only scanned the center of your finger the scanner during calibration it isn't exactly surprising that it often does not work.
It works quite well since I redid the calibration paying close attention how exactly I place finger on the button during everyday use.
I've only had problems with the scanner when my finger is not 90-100% dry. It fails to detect fingerprints in that case.

hi, i bought this sony xz1 2 weeks ago, now i decided to use the fingerprint but it seems to not work properly, someone have this problem or it's only my device?
Remember that US software version doesn't had fingerprint scanner enabled. You need to flash a different region software. This doesn't void warranty.

i'm european and it have normally, but it some times doesn't work as well :crying::crying:
Keep your fingerprint scanner clean.
If you use case, remove your fingerprint and add again your fingerprint without case. Fingerprint scan area is too small in this phone and cases make smaller this area.
Hi, I just got my new tab s6. So far I love it but I have one problem. Fingerprint scanner stopped working after one day. It not recognize any fingerprint. I can't unlocked my device and even add new fingerprints after I removed old ones. Yesterday it works 9 oof 10 tries. Rebooting devices not help.

Have you installed a screen protector?
The fingerprint scanner is awful. I am on the newest November update and most of the time it's not able to read my fingerprint. I don't have a screen protector either.

No screen protector.
This generation of in screen FP readers really are disappointing. Same for my Note 10+.

My when works works very well. The scanner recognized my fingerprints 9 out of 10 but now I can't even add new fingerprint. Every time I put my finger on scanner I had Information to cover the entire scanner with your finger and try again.

I know that. It makes both of them no less disappointing.
For now, factory reset help. Fingerprint scanner works again. We'll see how long this time it will work.
Hopefully Samsung fixes it in the next update. I had fingerprint scanner issues from day one, it took me a few tries to even get my finger print registered.
I've only had my s6 for a few days, but I had no problem registering my fingerprints... and it works perfectly (and quickly) each time I unlock the tablet

My fp reader was fine until the 2.0 update recieved 11/12. You're advised to delete existing and rescan. Now very difficult to rescan. Don't do update or delete if you don't have to.

apart from this one incident, the fingerprint reader works better than I expected. correctly recognizes 9 out of 10 attempts.
I would like to root my redmi note 9s (I believe it falls in the category of the note 9), but as I wanted to unlock my bootloader, the device told me, I will loose security features, such as the fingerprint scanner and the face recognition. Will I really loose them and if so, is there a way to get them back while the phone is rooted?
Not having worked on your specific device, but most often unlocking (or relocking) the bootloader results in a memory wipe. Better do that when your phone is new or before you have configured it according to your tastes.

Okay, thank you!
The only thing I lost on my RN9 was the device search through the Mi Account. Even though I would never use MIUI. Google has a much better find my device function. Try finding your phone model in some YouTube videos, if they say something about fingerprint loss. I don't recommend you use the face unlock as it's really easy to bypass.

Unlocking the bootloader will disable the encryption and other features, so that's why it wipes after unlocking.
