This isn't a huge problem but I found that in Custom ROMs, IR Face Unlock unlocks the device even with eyes closed. This does non happen in stock ROMs.
Is this already been known? Can it be fixed?

Different software algorithms works differently. Custom roms use google face unlock with ir camera while miui use proprietary xiaomi face unlock software. So to fix this we will have to port this which is not easy. You can try if you want to.

I've already rooted my phone and was planning on flashing a custom ROM, but all the ones I've seen say that the fingerprint sensor is one of their known bugs or issues. Are there any ROMs that actually allows the use of a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device?
nope, none except stock based ROMs as of now. I am sure the devs will get around to it in time, they are all hard at work on this, and doing us all a great favor! so hold tight and it will come sooner than later!
Hi guys, I am considering purchasing this phone but im not really fond of the miui. I wanted to know if the cm13 is stable and has all the features (like fingerprint sensor working) or multiwindow as well?
Also if I unlock the bootloader, can I return the phone to stock and get ota updates? Thanks

Official Cyanogenmod is stable BUT doesn't have fingerprint reader (YET), only the unofficial Cyanogenmod supports the fingerprint, but there are developers/modders who are working on the fingerprint reader.
The unoffiicial cm locks your bootloader, which is not a bad thing, but if you brick your device, you will be f..ed.
So if I would be you, I'd buy this phone, it is very powerul, had no problem with it, the only con is the camera in low light.
MIUI is not bad I have to say, on my older phone I said cyanogen ftw, and wtf is this MIUI, but when I started using it, I also started loving it, so basically it's a win-win for me.
Hi. I just got my redmi 5 plus global. I am not a miui lover. I prefer AOSP over everything. So I head some custom rom causes screen burn ins. Why its happening? And how to prevent it?
Nope, it does not. The burn in problem was with a leaked MIUI oreo rom directly from xiaomi. Problem was, brightness sensor was broken on it. Other LOS or AOSP oreo based roms don't have this issue.
Yeah, well, I never flashed that leaked MIUI ROM you said but some ROMs and my phone got the burn in effect
The thing is u wont get burn in issue juts before flashing just read somewhere on telegram and xda about its history :good:
Afaik as I understood there's been some driver that caused the burn in, that driver is now again removed in every ROM, so there's no burn-in issue anymore!
Burn in, third screen
i got seriuos burn in too near simcad t and near volume buttons, on my third screen, i had on previous two also, so i dont know, what is cause of it all, i tried stock, custom roms, i like to stick to custom, and im on aosp extended. im going to replace the screen once more, but need to keno hoe to prevente it to happen to this one too, please help.
Hi, I would like to know if anyone has found a custom ROM, preferably based on Android 10, that has face unlock?
I also like to know if it has IR face unlock and if it is as fast as on miui.
Any recommendations, please?
I'm using stock 10.0.6 and location poland. Should work on all Roms.
The Pixel Experience has IR face unlock for Poco now!

But will be removed => Look at the Pixel Experience Thread
I've just installed Havoc Os (android 10), it has face unlock using the IR camera and is fast enough. Hope they won't remove it.
Hi !
It's my first message on XDA so sorry if I mistake things ;(
I'm on EvolutionX since two weeks and I litterally LOVE this ROM. I looked for the best ROM for daily usage, and I love how the UI, the animations are smooth and all that stuff...
Face Unlock has been removed in the last update (4.20.2) but I'm on the previous one (4.20) and it works perfectly ! I assume that the Face Unlock is a bit slower than the one on MIUI, but it still is very fast.
Hope that message helped you !
IR Face Unlock is still available in the 26th April build of crDroid (6.5).
Miui eu
I did not know that! Is it going to be removed? Can you share the link please?
face unlock must be removed. It is less secure than password protect.
I use my phone for official work, payments and Netflix.
With the Knox security being unspecific about what will work and what won't (like the camera not working with an unlocked bootloader in ultra), I wanted to know what problems or issues have you come across or could come across when the bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks!
I would really appreciate any response at this point.
You would lose VoLTE.
If you have 4G only sim, your sim won't work.
Trust me I've tried in S9 and S20plus. Won't work.
Once you unlock boot loader, certain bank apps won't work. There might be a work around with Magisk but still some banks won't work.
Get a Pixel or Oneplus for custom Roms.
Samsung is dead for Custom Roms.
DON'T DO IT.

How about rooting the phone? I want to get rid of unnecessary Samsung apps and mod the UI a bit. Will that affect my updates, banking and L1-netflix? Thanks.
I have no issues in EU at all, banks are working with magisk hide and if not, theres still xprivacy app.

How about Netflix and other streaming services? Are they giving you HD streaming? And does it matter what custom firmware you are using?

No issues, thanks for helping!
You lose HD streaming in Netflix. Not sure about other streaming services.

S22 Ultra in EU, no issues with VoLTE.
But Shay_Patrick_Cormac, for official work and payments you should check your specific Apps if Magisk hide and SafetyNet Fix are working for other users.
Usually some deceitful banking apps that detect knox out would complain. But, is there any custom ROM for this phone? I mean, at all? I didn't see even a kernel for the Qualcomm variant
Apps like intune could detect it and prevent you from adding company information to your phone. If you don't use it that's fine, but maybe someday you might. Other apps may also suddenly rely on it in a future update.
I've always rooted my phones in the past up until my Samsung Galaxy S8+. But now that' I'm on the S22+ I don't really see big benefits anymore. Stock roms have improved a lot and offer a lot of customizations already. And most unneseccary apps can be disabled.
Unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S22+ can have several drawbacks, aside from voiding the device's warranty:
Security Risks: Custom firmware may not be as secure as the official firmware provided by Samsung. Custom firmware may contain security vulnerabilities or be susceptible to malware, which can compromise the security of your device and personal data.
Compatibility Issues: Custom firmware may not be fully compatible with all apps and services, especially if it's not specifically designed for the Samsung Galaxy S22+. This could lead to crashes, freezes, or other performance issues.
Battery Life: Custom firmware may not be optimized for battery life, which could result in shorter battery life compared to the official firmware.
Unreliable Updates: Custom firmware may not receive regular updates or may not receive updates at all, leaving the device exposed to security vulnerabilities or performance issues.
Performance Degradation: Custom firmware may not be optimized for performance and may lead to slower performance, lags, or other performance issues.
These are some of the drawbacks of unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S22+. While custom firmware can offer greater customization options and control over the device, it's important to consider these drawbacks before proceeding with the installation.
