Keyboard Case Double Characters - Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Accessories

I just got the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and like it, but the keyboard cover that Samsung makes for it has a terrible problem. The keys seem to send double characters while touch typping. See that PP in typping? That's what I meann and it happens a lot. There's another one.
Is that common or do I just have a bad one? Is there a setting I'm missing that might fix this?

I have the same issue with my Samsung keyboard book case. It's really annoying.
I would like to know if this is a hardware problem that could maybe solved by using a keyboard case from an other vendor or if it is a software problem caused by the keyboard driver.

are there any from other vendors?

On amazon.de I found keyboard cases for the Tab S4 from four different vendors (ISVO, ELTD, MoKo, Fintie). But when I look at the pictures and the descriptions it seems that it is the same hardware. Pricing is between 30€ and 35€.
Unfortunately these are all Bluetooth keyboards. It seems that there is no other PoGo keyboard except the Samsung one.
Now that I know that I'm not the only who have this "keypress double trouble" I wonder if it is a general problem with this keyboard or if we both just had bad luck.
I think that I let replace my keyboard. Then I'll see if the next one is better.

I'm turning mine.

I'll also send my keyboard back and buy a bluetooth keyboard for a few bucks. If Samsung should fix the problem some day I will buy a new one.
It seems that many users have the same problem:
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...cpage/board-id/tablets/thread-id/13114/page/1
I will also report my problems there and at some other places. It seems that Samsung need some "pressure" before they see a need for action.

I have the multi keyboard (I am from Canada) and am not experiencing this "double key" issue. I got the Tab S4 and keyboard last Dec.

Has anyone had any luck with a replacement? I am having this issue and it's becoming a HUGE problem. I like the case but I have to return it if this is going to keep happening.

This issue is also on the tab s3 with bluetooth keyboards.
The work around I read about long ago is to turn off auto spacing (I think). Either that or auto correct.

I turned the keyboard upside down (keys pointing downside) and placed it on my legs so that the keys could be free running (I hope that this sentence is understandable). Then I can tapped repeatedly against the bottom (that was pointing to the upside). I used some force but of course not so much that the keyboard could have been damaged. Nearly no more double characters since this procedure.
It seems that it is a mechanical problem. It's unbelievable that such an expensive product is poorly manufactured. Samsung obviously has a problem with its quality control.
OT: Some years ago I bought a really expensive color calibrated Samsung 4k UHD monitor. I sent back the first two units because they had a massive problem with backlighting. Finally the third one was ok.
I think I should avoid to buy Samsung products in the future.

Anyone having issues with unintentional S-pen actions

Picked up my Note on Sunday from Best Buy. Yesterday afternoon I started having problems with S-pen causing inadvertent actions without me touching the screen. At first I thought maybe I touched the screen without realizing it, but at this point I can hold the pen 1/4 inch or more away from the screen and it still occasionally clicks the screen (or draws a line in S Note). Not constant, but often enough to be easily demonstrated.
I'm planning to exchange it but wondered if anyone else is having this issue or knows of a fix.
Digitizer performance continued to deteriorate over the next few hours and using the S-pen became nearly impossible. It was clicking everything it came close to. Did a factory reset to clear any software issues but the problem persisted.
Best Buy staff was great about exchanging the phone... and I got the last blue Note they had in stock. I was surprised they still had their one white Note available; no one had bought a white Note at that store.
Yeah I noticed that on mine. It lasted a short time but was pretty bad.
This is rather unbelievable as it's a Wacom digitizer not some Samsung hack, in spite of the S-pen moniker.
I imagine it's possible Wacom didn't want their name associated with it just because of something like this. I hope not at least
Anyway, I never noticed this with the international version, and I had one for a while.
Unacceptable if it would occur often.
update: It just occurred to me that this may be a pen issue. It's an ultra small pen, and this issue might not happen with a regular Wacom pen.
I will keep an eye out for this.
Not just S pen
I'm experiencing the same issue with my galaxy note, but not just with the S pen.
After upgrading my software, the lower-right hand side of the screen just went dead every time the note was placed on a flat surface. very annoying issue.
I was forced to downgrade my software just to get it working right again. the thread regarding this issue can be found here:

touch issues

Im so frustrated by the touch screen on my ZU, its so Sensitive (or under Sensitive ) that i always accidentally select items or make phone calls when i scroll through lists. I've updated to latest firmware already but same thing
Is no one else experiencing this? I only see a complaint occasionally. I brought the phone to Sony of Taiwan and they said it seems normal and dont recommend i send it in for repair.

Things like this are always a double edged sword.
On 1 hand people will see this as an issue and dislike it, or others like myself will like it as it makes the screen effortless to interact with.
I can see your point though, especially if you are coming from a device with a screen not as sensitive.
I come from an iphone, and have played extensively with a S 3,none of which have these issues, and are just as effortless

I had this problem with the Sony Tablet Z and it drove me crazy.. a software update fixed the issue but I returned the tablet anyways. But I have seen no issues like that with my Ultra Z.
Yup, updated this morning hoping for a fix but seems the same. ..trying to do factory restore right now to see if that helps
.475 seemed to have fixed that issue on my phone.

A factory reset DID help ! The touch still has occasional issues but much better now ... Finally can use the phone properly
Sorry, it didn't help. problem still exists and Sony is telling me this is acting as suggested. I guess I'll have to wait for someone (hopefully) come up with a sensitivity adjustment.
Did you apply any screen protector as certain bad screen protector will affected the sensitive issue.
Other wise, did you a iPhone ex owner. No biased on this, but base on what I had seen so far, certain iPhone owner can't proper use Android phone due to the touch & scroll method is different. Android only need to slightly touch not like iPhone need much pressure on it.
I've removed the screen protector, same thing.
It can't be an iphone vs android thing, the problem doesn't exist on Samsung devices I've played with or my Nexus 7.
It feels more like the screen is not sensitive enough? It isn't registering that I am still scrolling and so it registers a finger "lift" and selects into an item. Same thing if I try to hold a key on the keyboard to access secondary letter (holding down on a key to select comma, for example) it'll repeat hitting that key. I have to exert a lot more pressure and be very sure my finger doesn't move to properly access the secondary key.

The repeat-hitting when tap-hold is very abnormal. Why your service center didn't recognize that as a problem when they examine it? I think you should request for replacement.
I also had the same problem... touchscreen is a little bit buggy.. but the latest patch did fix a little bit.. but its still there. still far from my ip5 , s3 s4 note 1 note 2... hope they will fix these soon.
I have exactly the same problem on mine, sometimes is really hateful but for sure when rooted we will be able to change that value.
I also have major issues with the screen.
The best way to illustrate the problem is by holding a finger on the screen on the lockscreen.
It just flickers a lot like I'm tapping repeatedly on the screen.
I've updated and factory reset without it fixing anything :/
I was wrong, I still have issues. The newer firmware just made it overall a little "better" but I am going to send it in for repairs...this is ridiculous.

should I wait for next update?
I'm having the same issue with the screen sensitivity. It also skips when using a pencil as a stylus, which is the main reason I bought this phone- to draw and take notes. I don't like amoleds, need pentaband and can't fit anything bigger than the z ultra into my pocket. It has become very annoying, and I'm wondering if I should hold out for the next update or send it in now...I have no backup phone.

I've sent it in yesterday.
The Sony associate said he can see the issue as being "screen more sensitive than usual" but can't promise anything. He said he will demonstrate it to his colleagues as the repair form lists the symptoms vaguely as "screen erraticly jumps" which doesn't describe the problem accurately.
I will know within 2 weeks and post the results here. I am not holding my breath, though, as I think Sony has pointed out that the specialty feature of the ZU using a pencil to control the screen is produced by turning up the sensitivity of the touch screen. Kind of like Samsung Galaxy S4's feature of allowing users to use the touchscreen with gloves on. At least Galaxy users can turn the damn feature off!
Interestingly enough, while in the repair line I met another user who has a ZU and I asked if he had the same issues. He said no, he didn't have that issue at all.
Sony Taiwan sent it back to the repair shop stating they updated it to .475 and there shouldn't be any problems. Problem is, I already had updated it to .475 when I brought it in for repairs. Problem still exists and I have them send it back. If this doesn't improve I can only blame myself....should have bought a samsung!
Apparently Sony Taiwan refuses to offer any fix for this as they stated this "sensitivity" is needed for the pencil stylus feature.
Very unfortunate, very lame.
Anyone want to buy a 2 week old Sony ZU in Taiwan?

not happy with logitech pro keyboard

so, bit the bullet and bought a logitech pro keyboard on sale for 100 bucks at best buy. overall, i'm not impressed by it, and will be returning it for a refund.
the case itself is adequate for the job, though somewhat annoying to use. it fits the tablet, although its not as sturdy as i'd like. when opening the case, its very easy for the device to pop out of the tabs. closing the cover, the ends don't quite align up with each other and it takes a few moments of fiddling with them to get them properly seated together. despite the presence of magnets, the device doesn't turn off when the cover is closed. even though there are little rubber pads toward the end, even a little pressure will push the device into the keys. since i keep my tablet in a backpack most of the time, i'm worried that this will cause damage over time to the device. a possible work around would be to fit a piece of felt between the device and the keys before closing the case.
the keys themselves feel solid, and the typing experience is good. response time and key spacing are fine. didn't have any trouble pairing the device.
there are two main reasons why i'm returning it. first, the macro keys that let you pull up the browser, email, etc. cannot be customized. want them to map to different apps? tough noogies. they gave me the runaround at logitech support on this, until ultimately admitting there's no official way to fix the issue. (there's some process involving rooting, freezing, blah blahbity blah that doesn't work for everyone... no thanks.)
second, when using the keyboard, a semi-transparent black bar appears along the bottom of the screen that covers whatever is already there and makes that area of the screen untappable. so things like the task manager and close all apps are unusable since this bar covers them. i've included a pic, though it may be a bit hard to see it. you can get rid of it by hitting the back button, but every time you touch another key it comes back. turn the keyboard off and the bar goes away... turn it back on, and the bar comes back as soon as you hit a key. this problem is the deal-breaker for me. changing launchers didn't fix the problem, happens in both touch wiz and nova. since i haven't seen any mention of this problem before, i don't know if its a one-off thing just affecting me or if others have this problem as well.
bummer.

Very sorry you are having problems with that keyboard. I use it and am very happy with it. No fit problem here. Haven't had any problems with tablet coming out of the case either. That black bar problem looks like a defective keyboard maybe. Try to return it to Best Buy. I don't know of any keyboard that has programmable keys for this tablet. Maybe a standalone Bluetooth keyboard might have this capability but then you would not have that protective case that the Logitech has.
With regards to the black bar issue, out of curiosity are you using a custom software keyboard for on-screen keyboard use?
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
That black bar looks like the type-suggestions bar... check your settings, specifically the settings --> controls --> language & input --> keyboard&input methods --> Default --> turn off the 'use on-screen keyboard' toggle.
And if you're using a third party keyaboard (that isn't swiftkey), check the settings, there might be a setting for suggestions with keyboards.

ended up returning it. now i'm looking at the amazon basics blue tooth keyboard (cheap!) and the samsung cover keyboard (not cheap!) honestly, i can learn to live with the macro keys problem... but its good to know that the black bar issue isn't a widespread thing.

thanks for the suggestion; was hoping it would do the trick, but unfortunately it didn't. i wonder if it has something to do with using the keyboard and the bamboo stylus at the same time? i tried using only one at a time, but that didn't do any good either.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Keyboard case?

Hi, has anyone seen these for the S7? They were not in today's keynote AFAIK. They were only made available for the S6+ and they were leaked in the previous weeks as an accessory to the S7, but nothing so far. Has anyone seen/heard anything about this_
Thanks!
As I feared, it seems this will only be available for the larger S7 edge...
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...with-the-official-accessories---cases_id78547
Or may be for both?
http://ausdroid.net/2016/02/22/sams...ssories-for-the-galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge/
Hope to see see more cases in the near furture
Pre-ordered one on February 28th for my girlfriend. She's hooked on physical keyboards. She came from a Stratosphere 2.
Looks like it only comes in black for now...link here. She got the S7 Edge gold so would've been nice to see a gold case and keyboard but we'll take what we can get for now.
Finally got it today after Samsung didn't give any status for several weeks. Will have to report back on performance after we play with it more.
So far we noticed the keyboard case disables the always on display, puts a dent in the screen protector on the top left side (Will probably get a tempered glass protector instead), and removes the mode button on the camera. You obviously can't use the fingerprint scanner. The overall build quality and feel is nice. The keyboard is very responsive. My girlfriend is happy with it overall and said she only has to press buttons slightly harder than on the Stratosphere
The nighttime edge clock still works with the case even though the rest of AOD doesn't. Not sure if the edge clock is part of AOD or not. The keys obviously don't illuminate at night so difficult to use the keyboard if you're the passenger in a car at night. Would be nice if Samsung found a way to make them light up through wireless power from the phone.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I posted a video

Hi, something very strange is going on. The space bar only enters a space if I press it with the ALT key, on its own it does nothing. Any ideas? This is not a hardware problem because it does enter a space with alt. There does not seem to be a keyboard config. This is very annoying... I am on the latest samsung software update. I do have a tempered glass protector, could that be it?
Thanks!

It is the tempered glass.... I removed it and the keyboard works fine. Will try another brand and/or plastic film instead and will report back.

she'd probably like the Blackberry PRIV. I feel bad for RIM right now. Their previous reputation is overshadowing this REALLY solid device. If they released this phone 3-5 years, they'd likely still have a decent foothold in the market. They're at where LG was before Google breathed new life into them.... I wonder if Google would choose RIM to make a Nexus? That could instantly resuscitate that company. But currently, the PRIV is easily the best choice for someone who wants a physical keyboard

Keyboard case

Will the original keyboard be on sale anytime soon? Did anyone find a compatible chinese one with pogo pins?
I'm also interested!
 @Ashyslashy Did you find any??
Thanks!
Nope. I feel quite deceived by Huawei at this point. Their site says "keyboard sold separately", not "the original keyboard will never be sold".
I got an email from Huawei this morning saying the Mediapad M5 will be available on May 30th, 2018 when I asked them about Amazon availability. I'm hopeful that other items will be in the shipment.
Might be a stupid question:
Is the Pogo-Pin system standardized in any way?
So that each 4-Pin KEyboard works with each 4-Pin Tablet and so on ....
I fear not, but I love clarity!
Anything new for this?
I can find them on eBay/AliExpress/GearBest, but I was hoping for something more official from Huawei...
I found an "official" Huawei one on ebay. I just came in the other day and I am typing on it right now. it is working great! came in a huawei branded box all sealed up. it's nice. the keyboard is very responsive. the touch mouse is smooth. it even has a mpen holder. I just searched huawei m5 keyboards and found one that said official and rolled the dice. it was about 124.
The original huawei keyboard case is really nice and slim but I'm still looking for cheaper keyboard case. Anyone found something similar?
How are you getting on with the case, is it actually a Huawei made case, is it worth close to £100, what you mainly using it for?
Sorry for all the questions, but am scared off of it because of price, and maybe thinking it will add alot to the thickness. Wish I could see it in a shop.
Thanks
Jim
If you are looking for the genuine keyboard case, you can find it :
- here (for QWERTY keyboard)
- here (for AZERTY keyboard)
I got the original, "Amork" one with the tablet and it is pretty nice and comfortable to use but two small pins holding the tablet are weak points. One of them broke just after 15 days of moderate usage and by the time I went to replace it, the shop I bought the tablet in said they had none to sell separately from tablet and apparently they sell for $125, which is borderline preposterous.
The positive is that the original uses the connector pins rather than bluetooth. Bluetooth will slow down you wireless network connection. Sadly the trackpad really sucks.
Physical Keyboard Layout when connected to M5 Tablet
Hi Guys,
I am seriously impressed with my very recent Huawei M5 10.8" tablet purchase, over the moon in fact!
So much so, I quickly decided to invest in the 'Original' Huawei keyboard with the 4-pin connector, and it really is a very nice accessory. The keyboard which I received yesterday does not look like it has the standard UK keyboard layout, but I wasn't overly concerned about that detail....at first!!!
Anyway, as hard as I've tried, I just cannot get the tablet keyboard language settings to change, so they exactly match the physical button layout on the physical keyboard! When I dock the tablet, it seems to be locked into the SwiftKey (UK) & Gboard (UK) keyboard language layouts, and doesn't allow me to change to another language? When it is disconnected I can change the keyboard language settings on the Virtual Keyboard very easily.
So to summarise, whenever I am typing on the physical keyboard, I am always getting UK characters symbols on the tablet screen and not the actual symbol that is on the physical keyboard. This is mildly frustrating, and I'm not sure about what I can to do fix this problem.
My next move will be to uninstall or disable the Gboard & SwiftKey apps, and see if that will force the tablet to use a generic Android Keyboard, that may allow the tablet to better interact with the physical keyboard.
The tablet was bought from Amazon.co.uk and the keyboard was bought from Gearbest, and I think it has a US keyboard layout, but I'm not 100% certain?
Anyone on this thread got any thoughts or ideas?
Best Regards
George T. Smith

I had similar, what I did was just get a replacement and I put double-sided tape over the full width and most of the height of the tablet and pressed it down hard, to produce extra bonding between the keyboard case + tablet. So far its' worked fine.
Is a pity its such a bad design as basically means I'm not really converting between tablet no-case back to case as they're being taped together.
I bought an original ( Amork ) case. It lasted 5 months and stopped working, seems the quality of these cases is suspect.
It can't be repaired and only had a 3 months warrenty ( Malaysia ) so I can't recommend it even though it seems to be a premier device.
