Cannot load HardSPL
I have a brand new HTC Touch Dual 850 (quad band made for Australia)
I want to load Tom's 6.1 Update ....however as per instructions:
1. download the attached files- OK
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!- OK
3. connect usb cable- OK
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)- OK
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display- OK
6. unplug and replug the usb cable- OK
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki - THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS: i GET error 244 invalid model id

Did a Hard SPL and it flash fine but I was unable to use "Niki Project Rom v1.0 WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19716 ( Build 19716.1.1.0 )" to update. Error invalid model. So I guess Neon200 aka P5530 would take some time to be compatible.

This is my experience with my dead Hermes.....wich back to life
my case is:
my Hermes is an Imate JasJam loaded with TNT ROM ( WM6 ) with IPL-100 and SPL-1.04
1- during uptating the Radio the upgrade stop due to something wrong in the USB connection
2-i got a Hermes with these error :
A: Bootloader is OK
B: NO GSM
C: Operating system stop at first screen and not booting at all
The solution:
i did anything you can emagin with no success....loading another Radio( Failed )....loading another ROM ( Failed )...
What i did:
i used the new HTC wm6 ROM....which started to flash my Hermes without problems...it first loaded the SPL from 1.04 to 2.03 and after that start to flash the ROM and i stucked at the error ( INVALID VENDOR ID )......
here is the steps now:
1- use the new HTC ( wm6 ) ROM...the latest one as i did...this one will change the SPL to 2.03
2- get yourself the original 2005 ROM that fits your MFG ( Imate,O2.....etc)
which also incluse Radio as a deafult.
3-extract this rom to the separet files ( using WinZip or WinRar )
4-take the .NBH file of this ROM
5-extract the HTC ROM you used at step (1) and replace the .NBH with the from the ORIGINAL ROM ... this step will pass the (INVALIED VENDOR ID ) error.
6-the upgrade will go very well and now you will have a Hermes with WM2005 on it.
that is it......you got your device back...and now you can do anything with it...and upgrade it to any operating system.

the program start, but after a while it says, there is a error/problem, i should retry.
When I start to try something with the "bootloader" (on-switch, Action-button, reset) he explain me, i can´t install this version, cause the langua.
So pls. help a noob (first-timer of rom-modification), maybe u have a help-page in german too (Or step by step), cause all what i found at your wiki confuse me too much, cause i never heard somethin about this all - even how the extract a .nbf-file.

1. Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:
DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton
After a second release ResetButton, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.
2. Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.
Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".
3. Run HimaUpgradeUt_noid.exe
4. Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait',
but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.
5. Detach your device from the cradle.
6. Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

Just few problems left:

2.) Is there a german version anywhere???
3.) edit: my mistake; fixed
4.) I read, there is no problem of downgrade it (no, i don´t want), but from where i should get the german version for downgrading)
5.) My mda was without simlock (I could use every phonecard), i hope i still can ))

6.) I have the program PowerLOC Destinator (a Navigation Program); when i would start, he tell´s me: Invalid PocketWizard Setup package
I guess Navigator is not made for win 6, cause the programm is the original sd-card
7.) At settings i can "switch" wlan; I guess this is just from the OS, cause as i know, a standart mda2 doesn´t have wlan
Background: A guy from phonecompany told me, that t-mobile, switched off the wlan-function, so that i customers doesn´tt know, that his pda can wlan (Branding of t-mobile); but the hardware is inside the pda; They made it at vario 2 and mda pro

I have a problem! I recently acquired one PPC orange spv m600 and would like to place a rom wm6. But I have a problem: the only rom that i can install is - RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID WM5- all other roms (WM6) that I have tested, after running it in ROMUpdateUtility blocked my PDA in a three colors menu. Can somebody give me a tip of which rom in English or Portuguese can i use to wm6?

6. after the flash completed, it will restart automatically.
7. done!! in your prophet, nothing will be changed VISIBLY EXCEPT the digits IN the reboot screen !!!!!
and while booting now YOU MUSTBE ABLE TO SEE information like: 2.G3.4PDA (FOR G3 PROPHET) or 2.G4.4PDA (FOR G4 PROPHET) "
I reviewed the topic and to see if I understood:
1- to have a rom wm5;
2 - to run Upgrade_HardSPL_G4 (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe) the folder does not have no rom is exactly thus!
question: this process does not erase the rom that already exists?
3- run SPL.lnk ( put the 3 files in the root)
4-to run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe of folder c:/Upgrade_HardSPL_G4.

5- after this moment, I can place a WM6 like "Touch Evolution Full."

"Safe" speeds will be different for every device. Within battery status, it has some default values for "CPU Scaler" which is less damaging than outright overclocking.
I personally have minebset to scale between 143mhz and 260mhz with a burst of 273Mhz.

If you stay in the Bootloader and MTTY "boot" doesnt work, try the oemsbl with the command "cego"

I've tried to install a sspl and hardspl, but all have crashed at 95%
I've tried to install hardspl renaming the file nbh in NIKEIMG.nbh from sd, but this procedure have only send me message: loading......... and nothing all.....
At this moment my niki is stopped at 3 colors mode

just got a new T-Mobile Germany branded Touch Dual device after the display of my old one was damaged.
Now the problem is that I can't flash any ROM to it (the old one worked perfectly after HardSPL).
Phone data on boot:
Niki 200
SPL 1.22.0000
CPLD 4
Radio 1.65.28.25
I tried follwoing steps:
1. SSPL > Stuck in bootloader (Loading..., no USB colored screen)
2. HardSPL 1.15/1.16/1.22 > 0% and Update Error (communications error)
3. USPL > same as HardSPL
Just for testing:
1. Latest HTC firmware WM6.1 > Wrong vendor ID
2. All other ROMs > 0% and Update Error
3. Latest T-Mobile firmware > Ok, flashes
I'm running Vista 32 SP1 and also tried on XP 32 SP2 (admin). I used the same cable as with the damaged Niki before, same tools, etc.
Anyone an idea how to flash this device?

Have had the same problem, most times it works with cards inside, sometimes not
Never had to remove it (also sim) with my old Niki. After HardSPL flashing works with sd and sim inserted.
Maybe useful for others to know:
If SD-Card won't be recognised after flashing, just insert it into a card-reader on pc and the card will be reintialised automatically. After that the card will be recognised again!
