WWE2.15 can be flashed in to 818pro, others can't...
only under xp or with a virtual machine under vista
which virtual machine do you use?
I am running xp on VirtualBox 1.6.4, and i can't flash my qtek s200.
I have configure 1 filter to all my use usb devices.
When i connect my phone, it synce with active sync, but when i run the rom installation program, when my phone displays the bootloader, virtualbox tolds me that it "failed to create a proxy device for the usb device".
Can you tell me how you did?

Do you have a G3 Prophet?
I have a G3 and the radio rom install didn't work.
nope, I have a G4 and still the standard shipped radio rom
I have just tried to install gollum's rom on vista business 32bits, and the installation crashed.

I use vmware server 2 RC1 with a xp appliance, it works nice and easy.

I've tried the driver and it does not work.
Thanks for VMware, i didn't knew the server version was free. I'll try it.
Flashing G4 Prophet with VMWare works well.

vmware is the only way for me anyway to flash in vista. i'm sure it's the same for most of us.
don;t know how other people got the other way i.e old drivers etc to work...
Mmmmh, I think I should be thankful that my update didn't brick my prophet and the kaiser from my friend.
When the update fails on your pc is that always at a certain point ?
Do you have USB 2.0 connections and is legacy support in the PC BIOS disabled ?

I have the gullum prophet VIII rom
When I try to share the internet connection I have on my Dopod 818pro, I enable the internet sharing on the Dopod and click connect.
Once I click connect, windows vista discover a new device and need driver for it?? and cannot find any driver for it.
It mention a Generic RNDIS driver needed and hace following error:

u need wmdc sync centre for which u need to get genuine test file and i hope u use vista ultimate ,have you done all this and is your sync centre working fine ,and did you try other roms like gullum7 or wm5

yes, i have the WMDC ver. 6.1.
it is not the rom problems, but Vista Ultimate, coz it is asking for a new driver.
When connect to WinXP Pro, the driver is automatically installed.

I can install wm6 shadow successfully
when it restart again goto bootloader screen
Seems like firewall problem to me, as in the start same problem happen to me. I guess ROM has nothing to do at least with the ActiveSyc. or 2nd option could be the driver problem . btw check when you try to connect with the pc, the application activesync is running on you device or not.

I have disable firewall and anti virus program on my lap.but I can't
I can't connect active sync to flash hard spl I have try out ur guide,
my friends xda2 mini is connecting very nicely

Can you enter bootloader (disable connect though USB in activesync) and flash a ROM after plugging the device in?
Have you tried a different USB port?
Does the orange (charging indicator) go on when the device is plugged into the computer?
Does ActiveSync report an error?
I Have had this new pda one day yes today and ive managed to f**k it up already
it had windows mobile 5 on it and i wanted to upgrade it to wm6 so i could use flo touch and get the better graphics well i tried at updating and reflashing but all i got was errors and now when i turn it on i get the orange bootloader screen with the text:-
IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.10.0001
GSM 02.07.20
OS 10.2.0.8
but nothing else it is now not recognise by the pc and will not boot up even after a hard reset!
please someone help me get through this problem quick!?!

Download activesync 4.5 (search for it)

In activesync, disable connect through USB.
Run the RUU you downloaded above.
i have downloaded and installed active sync 4.5 as directed on a pc running windows xp and disabled connect through usb by right clicking it on the desktop in the taskbar and clicking connection settings then un-checking the usb connect box. then i connected my prophet and it installed it as a PocketPC USB Sync of something like that and it appears in my computer as a mobile device but when i click it it has nothing in it so i ran the RUU and it asked to update the ROM so i followed the steps but it asked me to make an active sync connection which i cant because the prophet wont turn on after the bootloader the pc recognised it when it was switched off. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!?!
Unplug the prophet.
Manually enter bootloader and reconnect the device.
then try reflashing the ROM.
Just continue with the RUU unless it gives an error.
i have just right clicked it under device manager and it is recognised as "Windows CE USB Devices" then expands to "PocketPC USB Sync" but how do i manually edit the bootloader if that it was i still have to do sorry im a newbie to this stuff as i said ive only had it one day

Start up the device normally. Then, press and hold the Comm manager button whilst reseting (stylus into the hole to the left of the power socket). Now, plug the device into the computer and run the RUU.

Do you know how i can put on the flo touch ? when i send across the cab file it installs but doesnt show anything i just clicked on about aswell on the device and it says its still windows mobile 5 ? is it really windows mobile 6 ? i just really want flo touch ?

That ROM is WM5. I would suggest updating to a WM6 ROM such as one of Cloudyfas ROMs. Search for it and read all the relavent threads.
To launch the cube, swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen.

Touch edition will have Touch Flo.

The touch flo cube should activate in the way i said above.
ok so i have downloaded the little extra on the page of the ShadoW Touch ROM and its called ShadoW Cube and i have installed it yet nothing happens its not even in the device menus. do i need to upgrade it like you said with this tool and how ?
The cube only starts when you slide your finger fRom the bottom of the screen to the top...

I updated the ROM of my O2 Xda II but I think the update did not materialize and in fact my PDA would not open. My PDA shows Serial at the top and v 1.06 below. When I put it in the cradle, it displays usb at the top and v 1.06 below. Can someone help me what to do to boot my pda in windows? Thanks.
U a in bootloader, at this point u can upgrade ur ROM if u want to go to window u may need to press restart button..............

If u want to upgrade ur ROM, first u need enter bootloader then double click on HimalayUpgrade.exe after ROM Upgrade complete u will not see bootloader anymore until u enter bootloader.

As of now my Xda II would not boot on the usual windows mobile operating system, all i can see now is a word serial on top and 1.06 below the screen. I do not know what to do and install to make my PDA return to its normal programs. maybe this is due to the failed software upgrade. What would I do and what should i install and where can i download it free? Thanks so much for your help. By d way I'm using vista so i think i would sync using windows mobile device center of the vista program.
Yeah may be u need Mobile Centere for vista. ur issue it seems to be need to re-install ROM. ROM u can search here that is compatible with ur PDA....
O2 Xda II Upgrade
I put my O2 Xda II on the cradle to upgrade it. My O2 Xda II is in bootloader mode
with usb written at the top. I run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe rom. It can't detect my O2 Xda II in the cradle. Can somebody help me please.

You can eject the USB cabble and plug it in again and try to run the wizard
You have to install Microsoft ActiveSyn (4.5 final version for Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista only) before for the USB can be detectable or reinstall it again
Ensure that you plug the USB cab directly into your PC not to a bridge

Sammy - after many days of this same error, I decided to actually listen to the advice given earlier and use a laptop running XP, and NOT Vista.
I was able to then run HimaUpgradenoId.exe without getting any "failed connection" error messages that I had been getting with Vista.

While I do prefer XP for flashing, I have used Vista Ultimate x64 without any issues to do so as well.

Same thing here. Vista Ultimate X64. cant use olipro, had to do it on my work pc which is xp 32 bit. but other flashing is no problem at all.
it is because the sleep4 command is 16bit which is not allowed to to run on 64 bit os
just edit the cmd file in a text editor and replace sleep4 with pause
now it will pause when it runs which means you have to hit enter to continue which should be enough a delay
i just did this exact same thing tonight without issue

Just wanted to say, this worked for me as well. I was able to install Olipro 2.40 from Vista 64-bit with this work around.
you should unlock under XP/activesync. Flashing on vista x64 is fine, works great, but I didnt try very hard to run the unlocker under vista when I had an XP machine to install activesync on once and never touch my mogul with again.
On second thought, adjust the .bat as instructed above and dont worry about it. As I said, didnt try very hard.

For the utils we use, Vista 32 is fine.

how do you edit the cmd file in a text editor. can i please have step by step instructions.
My laptop is XP and desktop 64 for situations like this. I actually did ALL of my flashing via my laptop, didn't know until this thread I could still do it with 64.
Why not just run NueTools SPL Unlocker? Then you can get it all done from the phone and not having to worry about Vista or XP or whatever else...

AWESOME!!! Thanks for the help... I think I just successfully unlocked my alltel Vogue on Windows Vista 64! Did exactly what MrTek suggested... Alot of "hit any key to continue..." but it worked! I might have the same roaming problem that many people experience but hopefully I can fix that. Thanks a bunch! Now for some ROM cooking...
UPDATE: Solved the roaming issue by updating my prl (preferred roaming list)...
1. Dial *228
2. Hit option 3
3. Wait for phone to program and restart.
(I believe this can only be done while on an Alltel tower, or whichever carrier you happen to use.)
