3G speeds on Virgin Mobile... - Optimus One, P500, V General

Ever since I came from Sprint's EVO to Virgin Mobile with the Optimus V, I have noticed abysmal 3G speeds. I read somewhere else about some people experiencing the same problems and having it solved by calling VM and asking them to provision their phones for "android 3g". What's the truth to this? Anyone here experienced this?

Internet speeds slow?

Hey guys,
I just got my Optimus V after getting fed up with T-Mobile's prices / customer service. The main issue i'm having with virgin is internet speeds, I put CM7 on the phone so its speedy, but the internet is so slow...i will have full service and it says "3g" but the speeds are like edge on tmobile. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to speed it up, or is that just how it is on virgin?
It's probably like that. Don't expect great speeds from small carriers like Virgin or MetroPCS.

Slow 3g

Is anyone else experiencing slow 3g speeds on Sprint with their Flyer? I just ran a test on speedtest.net, and i'm getting .10 - .21 Mbps down
I used to have ATT, and the 3g speeds I'm getting now with Sprint are way slower, web pages take forever...
Edit:
To anyone concerned, I found this Here
4G on the View 4G is fast. We’re talking 8.9 MB/s fast using Sprint’s WiMAX 4G network. The upload capped around 1.2 MB/s, which falls right below Sprint’s 4G upload speed limit of 1.5 MB/s. Unfortunately, the EVO View 4G exhibited sub-par 3G speeds. The device seems to get stuck in 1xRTT mode and will not switch to EvDO. This wouldn’t be a major problem in itself, but 1xRTT is capped at about 150 kb/s. This bug renders the entire tablet useless unless you are connected to 4G or WiFi. We reached out to HTC for an official response and received the following note:
“We understand that it would be nice to have an official statement regarding this issue, but until we are provided us with an update on what is being done to resolve this, there is not much we can say on the matter. We are sorry we can not be of more help to you in this regard Korey. Please accept our apologies in this matter, as we know that it can cause disappointment with a new product when such critical features are unstable at the time of release. We can assure you that this is a priority and will be addressed very soon. Until then, we hope that you continue to enjoy and use our other many new HTC devices. Thank you for your patience while we work to correct this for all HTC Evo View owners and android devotees.”
We also checked with Sprint, who told us they were currently looking into the 1xRTT-3G data issue. According to Sprint, an RTN reset will temporarily fix the problem. Several users have reported success with this fix. An RTN reset erases the programming information and forces the device to reactivate upon boot. Unfortunately, it is necessary to get the MSL in order to do this. I have not yet been successful with the fix, so I cannot give a 100-percent accurate review of the View’s 3G capabilities until we receive a permanent fix.

I am thinking about returning, and waiting for the fix. Who knows, a new/better tablet could be out by then...
the fix is for sprint to upgrade capacity of there towers. its a well known issue in many parts of the country.

[Q] WiFi Off-loading on EVO 3D?

I was just reading this about Sprint's network upgrades here:
http://live.thisismynext.com/Event/Sprint_Strategy_Update_live_blog?Page=2
It mentions WiFi off-loading. On Android Central's review of the Sprint presentation it was mentioned that some of the newer phones, including the EVO 3D supported this. It was also discussed that this is similar to T-Mobile's WiFi calling.
Has anyone had experience with this? Does anyone know how this type of tech works? And if you have used it on T-Mobile, does it use your minutes for voice?
Think this is pretty cool. I figure someone here knows about it and it's relationship the the Evo 3D.

eHRPD?

Anyone else's phone saying CDMA - eHRPD under network status? Trying to figure out what it means. I do know that eHRPD is what is responsible for 3g 4g handoff. Anyone else seeing this?

I've got CDMA EvDo rev. A
But I am also set to CDMA only - who am I kidding, I'll never see LTE.
Have you checked your data speeds?

Yep, slow. 128 down and double up stream

I've been seeing it since I first got the phone.
hanced High Rate Packet Data (eHRPD). eHRPD is an enhancement of 1xEV-DO (AKA HRPD) that enables LTE to CDMA handover
Found the answer here http://www.lte.tmworld.com/ate/what-does-ehrpd-stand-and-why-it-important-lte

Moved to QA since this is a question....
Thanks for pointing this out. Mine also says CDMA - eHRPD
I live near Traverse City Michigan, actually about 10 mile out of town and at home I have 4G service, I also have high speed (WiFi) internet at home too so I don't 'need' 4G there so to speak but I'm not complaining. In TC where I work all I'm seeing is the eHRPD displayed most of the time, once in a while it will change to EVDO; and on those very rare cases if I;m not yawning I will see 4G but it maybe will last a few seconds. I was complaining to my son about them (Sprint) having 4G service out of town (south of TC) but not in town and he suggested they had fewer users out there and didn't have to have the capacity there that they would need in town. I know I don't think like a phone company but to my mind I would want to get service going in the larger community first then 'worry' about the out lying areas later. For me it's kind of frustrating because while I am at work my co-workers that have Verizon & AT&T service both have the 4G service and can watch streaming videos or anything else while with my Sprint service I am waiting for it to load, thank you Sprint for the slow service.

[Q] Enabling LTE on International One Max?

Hey guys,
This is one of my first threads so please bear with me.
If I did anything wrong feel free to let me know.
Issue 1: LTE Connectivity
So far I've been loving my one max so far, however there are a few troubling issues.
The first biggest issue for me is that I cannot seem to get 4g/LTE anywhere.
I had a note 3 before and I could get LTE coverage in the same area that I operate the one max in.
Is there anyway to enable LTE?
I'm currently on Telus network, and I've updated my APN's accordingly.
I was wondering if I had to flash a telus modem? If so, where would I go abouts downloading it?
Alternatively I vaguely recall a method of downloading the CSC by typing in a code in your dialer keypad.
Issue 2: Frequent Wifi connectivity problems
I've noticed that I've been dropping wifi connectivity quite often. Even when my phone is right next to the router, the connection will be lost
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I promise to donate to the person (people) who helps me fix this issue!

Don't know international but on sprint because of the new spark network and the different bands I can't get standard LTE till they roll out an update.

Try typing #*#*4636#*#* on the dialer.
Then Phone Information.
Choose LTE Only. If it does not get LTE, either you are not in an LTE area or the phone does not support your network's LTE band.

I have the same issue. My phone turned up to be from the US and it is not getting LTE on any of the networks here although there is LTE in the US. I called HTC support and gave them my IMEI, they confirmed phone has LTE. Dunno what to do.

just found out that EMEA LTE frequency is 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2600 while USA LTE frequency is 700 / 1700 / 2100
so the only solution is to return the phone back to the reseller
