Verizon Note 3
Purchased Brand New back in November
I've had zero signal issues phones entire life on 4.3 however since upgrading to K.K it's been awful like honestly terrible. I have areas in my house now where I have zero service period, never had that problem before. Also ongoing not a one night thing.
Happens on multiple KK based roms not just one example, also tried NC2, NC4 and now back on MJE radio and signal still sucks... is anyone else experiencing this? It was fine on 4.3 then out of the blue turned to crap
Also WiFi / Bluetooth have been flawless just cell radio in general sucks now, not just 4G either I barely get 3g anymore in areas and can't even send text messages
Same here
I have been dealing with the same thing. I can't ever remember having any issues with any Verizon device in the areas that I normally travel. Since taking the update, I run into problems everywhere. Almost to the point where I want to go to a different phone.
Same. Exact. Thing. Here.

I can't remember where I found it but there is a build prop edit to tweak the radios. I did it 3 months ago and it has stuck through the kk update to nc3. Try Google samsung galaxy note 3 radio tweak or poor signal. Sorry I can't remember.

Go to this site. Download all of the radios. But I am going to say that the MJE radio will be the one that will give you back your consistent connection. You will need Odin. If you end up having any difficult time downloading any of the items off this address. I could send you everything via drive or what not. Just hit me up in a PM. I just have to figure out how to turn on PM notifications. Otherwise I will forget to check if I have any. Any way, hope this works for you. Also, to the person that posted the idea about there being some kind of tweak to the build prop, try to find that link and post it here. Reason being is that the newer radios enable the newest higher frequency bands. And allows for greater speeds. But, obviously they suck. So if I could get the newer radio and make the phone get better signal and not drop network. Than I would rather do that. As I am sure others here would as well. And assuming those others have Root on their devices. Any way, I am just rambling on. I'm off to bed. I have to go to work soon and then get home so as can drop the sub frame on my car to replace my rear motor mount.

Same exact problem. I can have 2 bars signal. Hit send for a call and watch the bars go to zero then doesn't even connect.
I've been on the MJE radio. You can find the MJE modem tar in the Verizon Note 3 Android Development section, the post is by BeansTown106.
Regardless of what people say about modems and signal, etc.. NC2 and NC4 were subpar for me. MJE is stable and I get excellent signal and data speeds.
I'll try that radio today thanks
Yes my signal is awful even with mje radio on 4.4.2 as well. time to roll back. Its like I'm on sprint network.....

I'm in the same boat and it's very frustrating I just got off a call with verizon and they wanted to put me through all of this bs to troubleshoot and reset my phone so I said no thanks and got off the phone.
I've had the same issue. I'm currently on JasmineROM1.5
Here's what I did and it fixed the issue for me. Go to Settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode. Mine said Global. Change it to what I have in the pic. Reboot. Mine is good to go now.

I have noticed a difference between how KitKat and Jelly Bean handle radios. In 4.3, the phone would quickly get a mobile data connection (i.e. working data, as shown by the solid white 1X/3G/4G symbol in the status bar) on any network type and even at very low signals. Since KitKat, the phone does not want to connect to data on 3G as much or 1X most of the time. It will just stay there with the connection type grayed out (indicating no data) even though the signal could be 3 bars.
As I had only upgraded to NC2, the phone is back on MJE and will likely remain there unless what is after KK doesn't break more stuff (like VPN, which is still broken on Samsung devices). After rolling back to MJE I can confirm that radio performance is equally bad (or good) as before I updated to KK.
The GF is using my Note 3 and works in a very low signal area (flips between an unusable 1 bar of 3G, 1-2 bars of 1X, and no signal). Other devices like Moto phones and the 5S get 1 bar of LTE there or 3 bars of 3G, and there are people even tethering away. She can't call, send/receive texts, or do anything else so it is useless at work.
Hey guys thank you for all the replys and I will definitely take a look at the responses more in depth when I have a moment.
Just some things I've noticed
It's not just me, apparently there is a lot of feedback of others with the same issue
I HAVE swapped modem files specifically all while staying on a KK based rom I've tried NC2 NC4 and now MJE radio and they all suck when using the KK software even though the MJE radio was fine on 4.3 for me
Given that others are reporting it, I find it hard to believe that my phone is defective / hardware related and it must be something in the firmware/KK specifically
It's gotten to a point where I need to take immediate action. My wife called me this morning and I was not even notified, my phone never rang period and I have nothing in my call logs but my phone was on the entire day with, quote fingers, ""signal"" and this never happened previous. God forbid something bad happened and she is unable to reach me due to a software defect. That is a BIG deal, I didn't even know she tried to call me 4 times in a row until she got home later that night and asked why I didn't pick up, I said what do you mean? It never rang
I'm debating on going back to 4.3 as a whole until the issue is identified and resolved unless any other solutions come out... I'm all about having fun and flashing roms but when my wife can't reach me when she needs me and I get ripped a new asshole things need to stop lol

this is not a solution but thought i would post what happened to me.
had N3 since launch and no signal issues
upgraded to KK Stock NC2 leak and had no signal issues
upgraded to NC4 firmware to fix reboot issue for recovery etc.. and HAD signal issues - BAD "No mobile Network" where it used to work perfectly
tried MJE Radio switched back and forth and all over and had signal issues still
tried a full NAND restore and complete factory reset and still had signal issues
ordered a replacement that came with MJE and NO signal issues - worked like it was working on release date
upgraded to NC4 Jasmine rom and did the NC4 firmware upgrade again - worried i would have same results but NO signal issue
now can switch to any KK rom with my NC4 and NO signal issue
i can not explain why the NC4 upgrade killed my release date N3 signal and the replacement N3 has no issues but something has to be related to me getting a newer device is all i can guess
Just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. Since updating my signal has been abysmal and it's killing my battery. I even got a new Sim card, no change. These radios really suck.
I actually hated MJE, such a horrible radio. I'm actually running hyperdrive with MJ7 and loving the signal quality. Though I specifically use MJ7 since I had the best signal for Band 4 with it. I thought NC2 was okay, but I tried it out only for a few hours once I found out you could change radios.

This is something that has been bothering me on these boards. The definition of firmware is applied 3 ways and nobody references which way they are using the term.
Firmware seems to mean any or all of these 3 when in most cases it is firmware=bootloader/modem
1. To all of the software as a whole
2. To just the bootloader
3. To just the os, rom, distro of android
Now I have seen you here quite often and know your not a noob when it comes to this but...
You upgraded to the nc2 bootloader you would have used odin to do this.
you then odin the nc4 bootloader to fix an issue with ss (does not make much sense as you needed to wait for a new version of SS for this to be fixed...work around being reboot the phone then click recovery in the 10 second boot window)
you switched modems nothing fixed it
you then did a nand restore which would have only restored the /system, /data, /cache partitions not the /boot odin would be required to change that
It seems to me that your other phone had a bad bootloader flash.

So those of you who received the OTA update...
Have you noticed any improvements related to the radio? Things like battery life and signal strength/holding.
I am wondering if I should take the time to re-lock and RUU for the radio update.
It would be so much easier if we had a way to flash the radio. Even a round about way would be nice.
I will try to keep up with this, and keep this post updated with the general consensus. It will be easier than reading through all the different threads.
EDIT:
Most are reporting that the new radio is a significant improvement. At worst, a few say that they see no improvement, but that it isn't hurting anything either.
I was wondering this myself. Also won't thus update your main version making it a pain to flash a different kernel

Stocked and updated. Last night my battery was very impressive. I probably average 6.5 hours on my battery since I got the phone and last night I hit 8.5 with 45% left. I did use it less than normal since I was busy but I've never come close to that even with the extended battery. I'll be out again today and will be away from a charger for a good 12 hours so we'll see. Oh
I did shut down 4G, but I do work outside of the 4G network so my battery life comparison still holds water. Other than the 4G being turned off, my phone is set on Auto brightness. Everything else is running at the highest level.

Honestly, I am in a 3G only area and haven't noticed any difference with my signal strength. I live rural and at home only get 1-2 signal bars with db about -83 to -91 which is about what I had before.
In the nearest city, I get 5 full bars and db is about -53 , but never really looked at it before. I always had 4 full bars in the city though so that is the same. Haven't noticed a big diff with 3G either, I never lose it anyway so can't tell. Maybe when I travel more when the Weather warms up I will notice on my trips farther into the rural areas.
Wasn't really that big of a deal to go through the process and I just looked at it as practice if I ever have to RUU again.
I relocked and flashed the Firmware update and the first thing I noticed was how much louder it was speaking to someone on the phone. I actually had to turn the volume down a bit. I'm hoping this sound also translates to the speaker.
It's honestly a fairly easy process..took me like 20 minutes to do.
As For The Signal Strength Difference YES It Is Much Better. I Used To Have -75 -80dBm And Now It's Up To -65 -70dBm.

I'm definitely seeing better signal strength. It was prety good before but I'm getting strong 4g in some places where it had been spotty, so the radio is an improvement.
Not sure about the battery life yet. It seems about the same. I'm sitting at about 40% after 12hrs 40mins right now, but that's with 4g turned off most of the time and using juice defender. Not heavy usage at all-couple of phone calls, bunch of texts, some web stuff, words with friends and streamed a few songs (again, 4g off most of the time cuz none of that stuff needs it).
The five signal bars looks nice, but really doesn't affect anything important.
Overall happy with the update. Haven't unlocked/rooted yet so there weren't any hoops to jump through. Was waiting for S-Off but will probably go ahead and root soon because the bloatware is bugging me!

Am I the only one who updated the OTA on an unlocked bootloader? I didn't lock, update, unlock and I haven't noticed any issues.
At home I always had poor reception with my HTC inc only getting 1-2 bars at most and I returned a Galaxy Nexus since I was only getting 1 bar of 3g/4g. The Rezound however is 3 out of 5 and about -86 dBm. I know VZ likes to change the signal bars over time but at least its not flip flopping like the GN was doing.
So I have had the updated ota (hboot, radio, etc) since yesterday.
Fiancee drug me to the mall like usual today. Before the update I was unhappy with the Rezound for it did not get signal where my old HTC Incredible did. I spent many a shopping trip with no signal at all, and resorting to watching a movie while she did the changing room shuffle.
Well now after the OTA, I had signal throughout the entire mall, including 4g, in the exact same places as the Incredible did. This mall plays hell on signal (like im sure alot of big malls do.)
Just my .02
So it seems the radio is better at holding signal.
The real question... do I want to get the new hboot or not... New hboot means that s=off is even less likely.
Not too much of an issue with Dev unlock, but still prefered.

That's how I did it as well. It downloaded and everything. Unless it just didn't apply.
Nah, I had an unlocked bootloader as well. OTA went through just fine. It didn't care. Only issue I had was the frozen apps had to be restored before it would install.

Same here with the galaxy nexus, had to take it back because of the ridiculous signal flip flopping. After the radio update, I haven't noticed a difference yet, and I haven't placed any phone calls either to check the clarity. I live in a pretty strong signal area, but my signal is weak at work, going from 4g to 3g a lot. It'll get the real test tomorrow at work. Hope it's better.

No sir! I was unlocked, bone stock perma rooted and I flashed the stock recovery and accepted the update. I lost root but remained unlocked. I pushed Amon back on and flashed su in recovery and I'm good.

You can download the android-info.txt file in the developer section and place that in the PH98IMG.zip file of the ROM you want to install (/kernel directory)... or you can take the boot.img from that zip file in the /kernel/ directory of that ROM and flash it in fastboot.. via:
ensure usb debugging mode is enabled/and have the boot.img/fastboot.exe in the same directory... open cmd prompt. cd to that directory. then type:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then flash the rom in recovery.
a few more steps... or you could read the guide on hex-editing some file to change the version back to the old one ( i haven't tried this. others have and they've been successful)
Good luck.

ok so i tried the latest and greatest blaze modem that released yesterday...
my speeds practically went up 9 fold, here's the story
using saurom, and latest blaze modem
however, here's what im running in to
the latest blaze modem that was released yesterday has increased my speeds by alot
yesterday when i was on telus sgh t989 modem, i was getting about 386kbps at my house and only 2 bars of service. on top of that, at the time it seemed as though my 4g was having a bunch of micro disconnects. also my upload was around 2kbps
today i come home and try the latest blaze modem, and my download went up to 3.8mbps (decent improvement i would say in the least), no micro disconnects, double the amount of bars in reception, but my upload is around 10kbps...
10kbps takes a long time to send mms... (trying not to be whiny, but that's all i use upload for when im not on wifi)
anybody else having this issue?
Can I ask what rom you are currently on? Also have you tried on another rom?
starting to hate this captcha image verifications
anywho, i'm a bit of a noob(sorry, but i never needed to really mod anything untill i bought the galaxy note), so i will answer this to the best of my knowledge.
im on saurom, haven't tried anything else
Some things just don't make sense. I'm also on saurom and its the only rom I can get decent speeds on. Someone else in another thread said he got good speeds on the unofficial collective. I get 10Mbps on saurom and only 3Mbps on collective.
I'm trying to figure out why but it seems everyone has different input. I wonder if saurom version matters cause I run a older build 4a.
well im glad that im not the only one that feels that way (regardless of how noob i am)
i tried multiple guides, and always stuck with the easy way
so far this is basically what i have
adw and used the latest blaze modem
saurom (latest according to the post that i saw)
the build.prop.test (of courst moved the .test part, still using this) that supposedly magically enhances reception
problems i have
a) download has improved but upload is retarded
b) reception still sucks even after the build, but when my phone is at two bars, immediately when i touch it, reception doubles...??
once again, i know im a noob, but im great at following directions... i dunno is anyone else having the issues i have?
oh and oddly, whenever i try to do a speedtest, my receptions goes from 3 bars to 4 bars... (25%...really?) as soon as speed test is done, it reverts..... does this makes sense to anyone?

Wifi tests on my phone show the full 25Mbps my Internet is capable of. I would suggest u try the rom I'm on if u can find it. Saurom 4a and don't apply that build.prop you are using, it could be causing you more harm then good.
Retest and repost afterwards
ok so deleted the "aftermarket" build.prop file from my system folder, and replaced it with the original build.prop that i had
results:
reception isonly at 2 bars (20% less)
speedtest with wifi shows: 15.747 mbps
speedtest on comp: 18.87 mbps, marginal difference, understandable
speedtest on 4g: 4.854 mbps, upload is at 2.487 mbps per second, YOU SOLVED THE ISSUE, although i must admit i feel dumb for not thinking of this... you get a kudos, if you ever swing by rochester, i'll buy you a round of beer
Exactly which blaze modem did you use? I just cleared my cache and flashed the blaze telus one. Rebooted twice and did a speed test and am only getting .06 mbps and somehow 1mbps upload speed. Before with jus the telus modem i only got like 512k and never passed 1mbps. I am running latest saurom and live in a pretty decent coverage area too, i also have it set to hspa only. Any reasons why mine suck??
Glad it worked out for you. Now where did u get that build.prop file? I don't remember seeing one with a .test at the end. Was it one of tomin's?
I also had the build prop.test and ill try and replace the original one and see what happens.

the build i used can be found here

did wonders for me, once again though you'll probably want to revert to the stock build.prop, as well as remembering to clear cache...
just to make sure i think i've covered all areas i will once again say what im running
latest saurom
stock build.prop
modem listed in above link
beats audio mod (i HIGHLY doubt this has anything to do with it)
i should mention that yes, in my previous post i only went up to 3.3 or 3.4mbps with the current setup, but that's the fastest in my area atm...
and as far as the reception issue, well honestly, quality of service and reception are two totally different things, so im not sure if what i said about reception was really worth anything
anyways this seems to have worked for me really well so far, will test for another 24 hours, if i feel anyhting is up, i'll post

HTC Amaze stock rom;
it seems have wifi connection issue at home: after wifi connected, few mins later, wifi still shows connected, but no internet activities were allowed;
see people has similar issue on other sites, does anyone have a solution for it?
also the connection speed went to 1Mbps for no reason. the router should be good, has ipad and desktop PC wirelessly connected all the time, didn't see any kind of drop or anything.
will ICS release to fix this? does anyone know? ROM issue? thanks
I still have the issue with ICS. But I'm using a Custom Rom, Energy to be exact. I had the WiFi issue with this phone since day one. It connects fine but certain times it will show a connection but no data will come through. My wife has the GS2 and she has great WiFi connection all the time. So I'm not sure where the issue lies. I'm also using a TPU case and a Trident Aegis Case at times.
Contemplating on returning to Stock ICS soon just for s&g's

thanks for the reply. I guess no hope for 21st's ICS then; if not, I propobably will consider to sell it. now I understand why the guy sold me that he wanted a ONe S.

I never had that problem on GB or ICS.
The 21st ota has already been leaked. Go to dev section and member Football has 2 leaked ROMs. The newer is what is what is being released on 21st

Labiker, do you have the latest stock ICS release from football? It's in the dev forums. I don't have WiFi issues, but I recommend testing your WiFi on other networks see if you have the same issue if you haven't tried that already. And in my opinion I would say stay away from energy ROM It's known to have WiFi issues when some sort of update is released for it I would probably try it out again. I would honestly stay away from revolution also until we get some new updates. I'm currently running the latest ics ruu stock and everything is smooth but I'm going to be trying eclipse ROM soon the speed ROM because I've been having the itch to flash something new.

Come to think of it....I have been using Energy since I rooted. So maybe it is the Rom. Going to run stock in a few. Just making my MyBackupRoot for my apps.

Amaze 4G sucks with WiFi and Bluetooth
I am on phone number 10 in the course of 11 months. I have had known issues I found; I have also found issues between T-Mobile and HTC. I've been through the Sensation about six times. That was replaced with the Samsung Galaxy Amaze...which was totally incomparable in specs. Then I was given the Amaze. Found many known issues...with WiFi (which is what I want to use...and especially using WiFi with Bluetooth. I get garbled incoming sound (sometimes the outgoing sound is at the same time audible to the recipient). I find that I get calls garbled constantly, or worse...completely dropped. I live in a metropolitan-suburban area where I get 4G signals. Additionally, I've found information on the internet about T-Mobile and Metro PCS having incompatible systems, which exacerbates the garbling and call drops. I have a very high-end router, on which no other devices have any issue...and the signal strength dot with concentric circles goes up to the full three and down to just the dot...and that's independent of how close I am to the router (again, no problems with any other WiFi devices). As I said, it's worse when the Bluetooth radio and WiFi are on simultaneously. I've had occasional success holding the phone in my hand...about two feet from any of my five high-end Bluetooth devices...it won't usually work if I have it in my pocket...three feet away. I've spent 53 hours on the phone with T-Mobile (I keep very good notes) and 17 hours on the phone with HTC. I'm running ICS 4.0.3. Both have said since May that "they" were working on the problem and expected a resolution in a week or two. Now HTC's relationship, per trusted sources, is disintegrating and neither has done anything...rendering my 10th phone useless to me. I'd rather go back to my Windows 6.1 AT&T Tilt phone, at this point. And three times, T-Mobile's "customer service" calls of 1-1/2 hours each, didn't even put any notes on the account. Caveat emptor...
I think your issue is related to software not hardware because you get constant bars right? Just no data sometimes? A lot of times its the router that needs refreshing I have noticed as well and I am running a Linksys e2500. I would try something like speedrom never recall it giving me WiFi issues. So don't put down the device without giving it a shot is all I am saying.
Hi Everyone!
I was waiting to root my Note 3 for the longest time because I did not want to trip KNOX. Well today I got a notice to update my phone to 4.4.2 so I check the internet for the latest gossip on the update. Most people said they did not care for it. Anyhow; I decided to root my phone because I didn’t care anymore and already kind of board of my phone.
So I rooted my phone and I did not trip KNOX.
My question is do I disable this Update Notification to 4.4.2 because it is not really needed via tricks laced in these forums or do I need to update to this to get better security and or features?
If I do update to 4.4.2 will I lose my root?
And if I lose my root; is it impossible to root on 4.4.2 because I believe it is impossible at this time.
Best,

Unless you want a few undesirable tradeoffs in your hands, either live without KitKat and no update, or take it and remain stock until a proven, trouble free method is available.

Yeah if you take the update you will no longer be rooted, and the only way to root Kitkat will trip Knox. So if Knox is a worry for you I would stay where you are at. Personally for me Kitkat fixed alot of small issues for me, so the update was much worth it, but I could careless about tripping knox personally anyway. I will never be sending my phone to Samsung.

Do you mind listing some of the few things it fixed for you?
I am reading a lot of threads saying that the new battery life is horrible.
I did manage to disable the update notification. Deleted the update file and renamed certain apk's. So if I never upgrade I guess I will be permanently on this os.
Is there a security risk or any other problems that arise from staying on an older os? Like cell reception or better working updates?
Thanks for answering my prior question about the root.

Well maybe someone else can chime in on some things they noticed also, but for me I was on Mj4 maybe 3 or 4 days till I updated. For me bluetooth got wayyyyy better on Mj4 when i would get in my vehicle bluetooth media wouldn't stream without skipping every ten to fifteen seconds. Nab modem I get faster speeds and stronger signal(but this will vary on location of the end user)....me I get great battery life(this depends on what rom you are using. I use Sacs Kitkat rom and I get great battery life) I stream audio probably 2 hours out of a day.....Wifi always on...bluetooth always on.....constantly searching etc I would say I'm probably a semi heavy user and at the end of the day I don't think I've ever been under 50% battery left at the end of the night. And that's my phone unplugging say 8am till 11pm or so.

You are using a Custom ROM. That probably explains why you enjoy it so much.
I think it is the stock 4.4.2 Kik Kat that has the horrible batttery life.
So far I am enjoying stock 4.3 with basic root and disable notifocatons on the update.
Do I get the same cell phone reception when I stay on 4.3 or do I need to upgrade to 4.4.2 to get better reception and security?
You know, is it like updating windows and you get security updates and stuff or is it strickly that they just want to limit people from rooting by making it harder.

Do you know anything about cell phone reception and security updates vs sticking with older roms or custom roms vs staying with latest factory update ROM OTA?
Just wondering if there is truly a benefit of sticking with pure stock and latest updates OTA even if you decided to deal with the negatives.

Well...alot of the times custom roms you are going to have all the latest security updates etc just as same as the stock ota. They are built from the base of the ota and then modified. Data speeds usually have a bit of increase because of different tweaks and such. The biggest problem with stock is all the Carrier stuff it adds in....same with knox added in.....all that stuff running in the background adds to battery drain. If I were you I would try flash a custom rom like Sacs.....then try it for a couple days....you can always go back to a stock rom.
Nvm forgot you didn't want to trip knox, so custom rom is pretty much out the question for you.

Can you tell us what modem you are using that gives you faster speeds and stronger signal? I was on both stock and multiple custom ROMs of MJ4 and I got way better signal strength and speeds than I do with NAB, and I'm running Sacs NAB ROM. I haven't flashed any other mod either, it's just Sacs. I was thinking of doing Carbon's AOSP ROM and seeing if I can get stock samsung apps (like camera, TW, just the basics, no bloatware) to work. I just personally like TW and like the features that the camera has (even though I've never, even out of the box, been able to get drama to work). I love the speed of AOSP and the minimal disk footprint, I just prefer some, SOME, of the samsung apps. But my main pain point right now with any NAB (4.4.2) ROM, stock or custom, is my signal got worse. Yes, I work on the Sprint campus so of course my nation wide clear coverage is non-existent (I'm lucky to get two bars of 3G, much less the LTE speed that Verizon or AT&T users ON THE SPRINT CAMPUS get to enjoy, sprint fail, I digress). Anywho, at home when I was on MJ4, I was getting download speeds of 15 Mb and upload speeds of around 6 Mb. Now with NAB I'm getting 5 Mb download speeds and 7.5 Mb upload speeds! Tell me how that works??? Maybe that's why battery life is so good for me, because I'm not connecting to the network so it's not using battery to communicate. I doubt it, but it sounded good at the time. So if you have a modem that you can point me to so I can flash it to get the better signal and speed, I'd be really appreciative.

Unfortunately I don't have a answer for you I'm on the NAB modem also, one thing I just wanted to throw out there is modems always vary on location. And for some reason we don't have any modem options like previous phones I had the S4...Epic 4g touch....all had different modems with different releases so we were always able to flash different ones to find out works best for each individual. The only thing I would say to try is check make sure you have the latest prl.

I do agree that different locations cause different results. My thought though is that my phone would be hitting the same radio towers as before. I don't think there has been an update to the tower radios, meaning LTE is LTE. What leads me to think it's not the towers is when I was on MJ4, I got great signal and then right after I flashed I immediately saw the degradation, I'm pretty confident that no hardware changes happened within that 10 minutes. Updating the PRL would just wipe out my phone's "favorite" towers. So it would force my phone to "re-authenticate" to the same towers that I already hit while on MJ4. That's my thoughts though, I could be totally wrong as I don't fully understand what all goes in to the phone radio communicating with the towers, I only know what hardware changes are or are not happening with the network.

Oh I appreciate any and all help. Even in stating what you did you may have said something that triggered a thought process that I haven't explored yet. So never be afraid to "state the obvious" (for lack of a better term) to me. I'll never take it as a negative. Hell, there will also be times that I haven't tried the obvious just because my brain is searching for a more complex solution when it could be as easy as "did you turn on WiFi?" lol

I've been there done that lol
Tons of drop calls after flashing to NAB. Then i tried Carbon Nightlies but did not use long enough to know if it has the same problem. Then have been on SACS kk ever since. It happens consistently with the Official NAB and SACS.
I do want to add that after deciding that I wanted to go back to 4.3, I attempted to flash back, several attempts, and several methods. I don't remember exactly what I flashed (months ago). I am beginning to second guess whether I might have flashed the wrong thing, maybe wrong radio or something.
If I post shots of my aboutPhone details, is it possible to identify what might be potentially causing this?
From my understanding you can not go back to 4.3 after flashing to NAB. It is odd that you are having these issues because I am running sacs and s5 port and I'm not having any issues what so ever. Post your about phone. Maybe someone can see from that. Gotta start somewhere.

Does anything look out of place?
my phone is also dropping calls now that im on NC5 kitkat. What gives? I know sprint is notorious for this kind of spotty service but c'mon, really?
Not saying sprint is the greatest, but maybe it's service upgrades in your area?
thats what they want you to think.. but really the "network vision upgrades" are already done in my area.
Im on the debloaded NC5 stockish rom. The problem started on stock

For comparison purposes try odining back to stock NC5 if problems persist try wipping data/factory reset in stock recovery and see if that helps? I am on NAB and I have no issues?

sorry, i should have mentioned that I was originally on stock NC5 (rooted) when the issue started. since then I began to care less. The droped calls started happening 3 days ago. I started flashing roms on to my phone yesterday lol

You can always try to use older Basebands/Modems. Some users have reported that the MJ4 or NAB basebands work better in their area than the NC5 ones.
You need to first install the Engineering Bootloader. Then you can use ODIN to flash the desired Baseband.
I'm o KitKat Killer 4 NC5 and only get about 2 dropped calls a day.. I'm willing to bet this is a tower issue, rather than a software issue..

Thanks for the tip. Is it ok to use the MJ4 baseband while on NC5? I do want to try it since thats what the phone was shipped with and it worked fine out of the box for 2 days lol.
It's funny, I used to drop calls all the time in the same area. After the update I don't drop calls in that area, but now in 2 other areas every time, it's like clockwork. Usually when 4g signal is really low, amybe it's when it tries to switch to 3g it looses the call. IDK, my S4 never dropped calls and I travel the same routes to and from work.
