I have 6833 sony ultra z. The headphone jack was always super-sensitive, recently it completely stopped detecting headphones. I sent it back for service and they refused to repair my phone
Apparently unlocking bootloader + flashing sony firmware is grounds for them to ignore mechanical failure problems. I sent the phone back with a locked bootloader, but I think I might've installed european sony firmware on it by accident ;(
Anyway, dont expect Sony to be reasonable with warranty unless you are super-sneaky with firmware flashing
Any suggestions on where to get the phone repaired?

Hi,
I have an x10 on contract from three mobile (uk) and after i got it, i rooted it and changed it to the generic firmware before updating to 2.1.
Last week the speaker in the top of the phone broke (really distorted and crackly) so i was going to put the original firmware back on before i sent it off...
But.. a week later, i have had another problem.. it will not turn on or charge! LED flashed red three times and would not charge at all (pc usb or wall plug). Believe this was because the battery is completely drained.. is it just a faulty battery or has the motherboard bust or charging circuit ect? (like all the stuff i read on google haha) is there any other way to fix this?
I have phoned 3 up and they said i can send it back for repair under warranty. My question is, will they notice that the firmware has been changed? (as i know that this voids the warranty?) It is NOT rooted, only the firmware is changed.
I'm worried they will notice and will not repair it ect.. :S
Many thanks

Unless they can get it to switch on I doubt they will notice, that and they send them off for repair so unless they are very clear whats supposed to be on it with the repair shop it should be okay.
3 might just send a new one If it looks to be beyond repair,
Hope this helps

To be on the safe side, I would flash the original operator firmware before shipping it off. You can find the original operator firmware here.
Well my usb port broke last night so i can't charge my phone.
I am still under warranty with sony i think(assuming 1 year warranty). phone bought in hong kong in September 2010. Problem i have is phone is still rooted. I cant use one click to unroot.
I have x recovery installed but no battery on my phone. Do I need to find an original Hong kong rom for sony ericcson to see the warranty has not been voided? if you get what i mean.
Thank you
I don't think that they will touch your software since it is solely a hardware issue.

E
Click on thanks if the answer was of any use
Or you can buy a usb port without SE
Well its hardware problem but when i rooted it isnt that saying i voided the warranty? to "fool sony" i havent do i need to flash to my original rom?

I sent mine back to T-Mobile with the same problem and mine was rooted, had xRecovery and using a custom rom and they just fixed the usb port
I didnt by mine from a big company i bought it from a small company in hong kong and im currently in ireland so i don't really know how sony works with their warranty thing should i just be on the safe side and flash a 2.1 rom onto it before sending it off?
Basically, the speaker used for phone calls has broken on my Xperia S there is no sounds out of it whatsoever, so i sent it off to Three UK where i bought the phone from who has have sent the phone back unrepaired with this message:
"Sorry Your phone cant be repaired
We've put your phone though a series of tests and can confirm there is software on it that has not been approved by three. We are not authroiased to hanle phones that do not have threes approved software versions installed so unfortunaltely we are unable to repair it"
Now a few months ago now i installed a generic ICS firmware for the Xperia S and so am assuming this is the problem, i have a few qauestions though as im now wondering:
1. Can i restore it to a Three UK firmware
2. Will they then repair it or is it now blacklisted
3. Is the warranty still valid with Sony and could i go around three and get them to repair it instead?
Thanks for your help guys:good:
Hello everyone, unlocking bootloader removes our warranty, but is there any possibility of retrieve it? Does Lenovo seriously checks phones, when we make a complaint? (I found that, Lenovo has page with warranty status, and they will deny, if we unlock bootloader)

they will even refuse to fix hardware issues if the bootloader status is or ever has been unlocked. Pretty sure this practice is illegal in the US, but in Canada, they refuse with reason "device unrepairable" .

Thanks for your answer, I'm very glad how that phone works now, but no risk no fun. I probably install Lineage 15 or 16 one day Likely in Europe warranty is also refused by unlocking bootloader
Hardware issues have to be repaired in germany within the warranty. But dunno if they would repair something which might have damaged with software... e. g. overclocking/-volting.
I had my bootloader unlocked, after a couple of month my bluetooth stoped working. I just relocked my bootloader and sent my device to my carrier for repair. They changed mainboard and repaired my device and they never noticed it. If you have already unlocked it and have problem after ... just try it they might still repair it.

My Moto z was on aokp and then died from nowhere. I sent it in under warranty and they swapped the Motherboard.
Just have to try it, worst case is they will refuse it.
Btw, I have to send my device again .... they didn't glued back the screen properly. I will ask for a replacement I can't accept this for a phone I bought new of this value.
I was gaming with my headphones connected and all of a sudden my mobile restarted by itself and ever since usb c type headphones not working , OTG not working and super charging not working. Mine is a one year old Mate 10 pro and hence it wont be covered in warranty, also I bought it from malasyia and mate 10 pro was not released in my country. hence the huawei guys said they could not service it in my country. Though they have released p 20 pro and mate 20 pro.
What could be the possible issue and please suggest some solutions , thanks in advance.
Clean your port.
It sounds as your port is not working. Cleaning will not help. I had the same problem and sent it for repair. Manufacture warranty was rejected due to relocked bootloader, sent it for repair using the statutory warranty (phone was at repair time only 5 months old, due to eu regulation they had to prove that it was my fault). Somehow they repaired it under manufacture warranty and they told me: it is a known manufacure fault. Mainboard and USB Board including the port were changed.
